Messenger Family

Generation 1

Andrew Messenger was born c1588.  He married Sarah Manning or Seeley before 1639.  He may have arrived at Boston, MA on 26 June 1637 aboard the ship Hector of London.  In America he resided at New Haven and Greenwich, CT and at Jamaica, Long Island, NY.  They had the following children:
  1. Edward Messenger
  2. Andrew Messenger

Generation 2

Edward Messenger resided at Windsor, CT.  He had at least one child:
  1. Nathaniel Messenger

Generation 3

Nathaniel Messenger was a resident of Windsor, CT.  He married Rebecca Kelsey 5 April 1678.  She was born 1660.  For information on her parents see the Kelsey Family.  They had at least one child:

Generation 4

Joseph Messenger was born 1685 and died 1763.  He married Katherine Holcomb 1707.  She was born 1689 and died 1769.  For information on her ancestry see the Holcomb Family.  Joseph and Katherine probably resided at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.  They had the following children:

Generation 5

Nathaniel Messenger was born 1725 and died 1801 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.  He was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War.  He married first to Joanna Collins 1747.  He married second to Abigail King.  She was born 1730 and died 1817 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.  They had the following children:

  4. Amos Messenger
  5. Daniel Messenger
  6. Martha Messenger
  7. Nathaniel Messenger

Generation 6

David Messenger was born 1760 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT and died 1 April 1811 at Granville, Licking Co., OH.  He was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War and was buried in the Old Burying Ground at Granville, OH.  He married Hannah Higley 1780 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.  She was born 27 April 1763 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT and died 1815 at Granville, Licking Co., OH.  They had the following children:
  1. Grove Messenger
  2. Cynthia Messenger
  3. Hannah Messenger
  4. David Messenger, Jr.
  5. Samuel Messenger
  6. Campbell Messenger
  7. Harriet Messenger
  8. Forest Messenger

Generation 7

Grove Messenger was born 7 February 1782 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT and died 1812 probably at Detroit, MI.  He fought in the War of 1812.  He married Pamelia Gibbons.  She was born 5 June 1781 at Granville, Hampshire (now Hampden) Co., MA and died 25 April 1862 at Bloomfield, Muskingum Co., OH.  She married second to Isaac Norton.  For information on her parents see the Gibbons Family.  Grove Messenger and Pamelia Gibbons had at least one child:
  1. Ada Messenger

Generation 8

Ada Messenger was born 20 June 1803 at Granville, Hampshire (now Hampden) Co., MA and died 10 January 1887 at Plymouth, Marshall Co., IN.  She married 25 March 1824 to Dr. Charles West at Granville, Licking Co., OH.  He was born 9 May 1801 at Bangor, Hancock (now Penobscot) Co., ME and died 16 April 1868 at Plymouth, Marshall Co., IN.  For information on his ancestry see the West Family.  They had the following children:
