Pease Family


Generation 1

Robert Pease is our first known ancestor in the Pease family. He married Margaret, surname unknown, before 1607 in England. Both were of Great Baddow, Essex, England. She died 1644. They had at least two children:
  1. Robert Pease
  2. John Pease

Generation 2

Robert Pease I was born 1608 and died 1644 at Salem, Essex Co., MA. He married Marie before 1628 in England. She was a French Huguenot and may have used French as a surname. She married second to Richard Haynes in 1644. He died in 1681. Children of Robert Pease and Marie:

Generation 3

John Pease was born 1630 in England and died 1721 at Enfield, Hartford Co., MA. He emigrated as a young child from England to MA and settled at Salem, MA. After 1681 he removed to Springfield, MA and later to Enfield, CT. He married first to Mary Goodell before 1654. She died 2 January 1668/9 at Salem, Essex Co., MA at the birth of her youngest child. He married second to Ann Cummings 8 December 1669. She was the daughter of Issac Cummings of Topsfield, MA and died 29 June 1689 at Enfield, Hartford Co., CT. John Pease married third to Ann before 1692.

Generation 4

Deacon Isaac Pease was born 15 July 1672 at Salem, Essex Co., MA and died 1731. He resided at Enfield, CT and settled in the northeast part of town. He was the first Deacon of the Enfield Congregational Church. He married 1691 or 9 June 1692 to Mindwell Osborn. She was born 1673. They had the following children:

  5. Israel Pease

Generation 5

Ezekiel Pease was born 20 June 1710 at Enfield, Hartford Co., CT and died 10 February 1799 at Enfield, Hartford Co., CT. He followed the occupations of taylor and schoolteacher, was town clerk of Enfield, Ct and was known by the titles of "Master" and "Clerk" Pease. He settled in the eastern part of Enfield near the Scantic River. He married Hannah Chandler 10 February 1732 at Enfield, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Henry Chandler, an early settler of Enfield. They had the following children:

Isaac Pease was born 1 June 1752 at Enfield, Hartford Co., CT and died 1820 at Enfield, Hartford Co., CT. He settled in the eastern part of Enfield which was called Scitico. He married Submit Spencer 19 December 1776 at Somers, Windham (now Tolland) Co., CT. She was born 10 April 1750 at Somers, Windham (now Tolland) Co., CT and was the daughter of Hezekiah Spencer and Mary Root who were married 15 March 1731 at Somers, Windham (now Tolland) Co., CT. Isaac Pease also married Rachael Brooks. Isaac Pease and Submit Spencer had the following children:

Generation 7

Abel Pease, Sr. (Reference # 130) was born 16 May 1787 at Enfield, Hartford Co., CT and died 13 August 1855 at Longmeadow (now East Longmeadow), Hampden Co., MA. He was a farmer. He married Hannah McGregory (Reference # 131) at Longmeadow (now East Longmeadow), Hampden Co., MA. She was born 13 November 1788 at Longmeadow (now East Longmeadow), Hampden Co., MA and died 6 February 1848 at Longmeadow (now East Longmeadow), Hampden Co., MA. Both are buried in the Baptist Village Cemetery (aka Baptist Corner Cemetery), East Longmeadow, MA. She was the daughter of Ebenezer McGregory, Sr. (Reference # 262) and Susan Bradley (Reference # 263). Abel Pease and Hannah McGregory had the following children:

Mary Ann Pease (Reference # 65) was born 29 May 1811 at Enfield, MA (now under Quabbin Reservoir) and died 24 September 1891 at Longmeadow (now East Longmeadow), Hampden Co., MA. She married Warren Frost (Reference # 64) 29 November 1832 at Longmeadow (now East Longmeadow), Hampden Co., MA. He was born 8 April 1805 at Wilbraham, Hampshire (now Hampden) Co., MA and died 9 October 1886 at Longmeadow (now East Longmeadow), Hampden Co., MA. For further information see the Frost Family. Both are buried at Baptist Village Cemetery (aka Baptist Corner Cemetery), East Longmeadow, MA. They had the following children:
