0204. Black Market in Trill Symbionts
Upon a call of help from the Trill Government,
Starfleet Command sent the PROPHECY senior staff to
TRILL to investigate the disappearance of the
symbionts. After arriving on TRILL, the crew headed to
a cottage in the nature reserve, known as the Wild
Life Sanctuary and Resort (WSR), where they were
scheduled to meet with an officer from Trill Internal
Security.
During the meeting with Kela Rugi, the Internal
Security officer, the crew found out that hosts were
abducted from any part of the world and returned with
their symbionts missing. They were also informed that
the investigation had been going for a month and
eleven symbionts went missing. Rugi mentioned the
discovery of two Trills, who had obtained their
symbionts illegally. It was also found that a large
sum was taken out of both the Trills’ bank accounts.
The fact was the symbionts were stolen and sold in a
black market. What the crew and Internal Security
didn’t know yet was that the victims were taken to an
unknown location, with the help of transporters. It
was also during the meeting that the Prophecy crew’s
actual assignment in the investigation was to gather
more information on the black market and then find a
way to stop it.
After the meeting was over, the crew was divided into
four teams. Team one consisting of Lt. Cmdr. Anaqueen
Spankryz, ExO, Lt. Cleo Tal, Sec/Tac and Ensign Raycii
Jones, CEO were to go to the Symbiosis Commission to
look into the files of the victims and their symbionts
and search for a pattern. Team two comprised of Lt.
Jaxsper Lawrence, FCO, Lt. Daisy Byrne, aCMO and
Ensign Neil Hyman, SOO, whose mission was to head to
an Underground Tavern, a popular hangout for unjoined
Trills and a place where joined Trills weren’t
welcomed. The aim for that team was to investigate the
possibility of the criminals attracting unjoined
Trills, with their offers of selling symbionts. Lt.
Cmdrs. Peter Aspinall, Ops and Sabrina Rikar, Cns
formed team three, where they were to go to the Trill
Internal Security Headquarters and interview the two
Trills, involved in the illegal joining. The last
team, comprising of Capt. Erik Morningstar, CO, Cmdr.
Shioban Jaxam, CMO, Lt. Cmdr. Enaii, IO and Lt.
Jeffrey Gorman, CSciO were to remain at the WSR to
keep up appearances and investigate the area for
clues, since three of the victims were found in the
Sanctuary itself.
At the Internal Security Headquarters, a third Trill
involved in the illegal joining was brought in. As
Aspinall and Rikar were about to interview the first
two Trills, an explosion occurred that resulted in the
deaths of those Trills. With the third one in danger,
Aspinall and Rikar went to save her and successfully
managed to get her out of the building. They decided
to go to the Commission to regroup with team one.
Meanwhile, at the Commission, Spankryz, Jones and Tal
did not make any progress in their research. Upon
Aspinall and Rikar’s arrival, the Commission went into
an emergency and the five officers, plus the Trill
woman were to be escorted by an Internal Security
Officer to a safer location. Unfortunately, when they
reached that safe location, the security Officer was
revealed to be a member of the organization involved
in the black market. Four of the officers were locked
up in another room, while Spankryz, being joined Trill
was taken away to the main base.
However, the same security officer decided to free the
other officers and take them to the main base to
rescue Spankryz. The main base was found to be
situated somewhere outside the WSR. Unfortunately, the
rescue attempt failed, as they were ambushed by the
organization’s own security force. Only Rikar and Tal
had managed to escape and return back to the cottage.
While the group at the Symbiosis Commission was having
their troubles, Lt. Byrne ended up missing from the
tavern. Lawrence and Hyman went looking for her. It
seemed Byrne ended up at a Medical Facility, the same
place where Spankryz, Jones and Aspinall were taken.
Along with the theft of the symbionts, it was
discovered that the facility was conducting
experiments on humans to see if they were able to
carry symbionts.
Upon hearing the news of the abductions, the remaining
officers regrouped and made their way to the hidden
facility to rescue their crewmates. After they reached
a forest clearing, the crew discovered a sensor array
that could transport them directly to the base. The
array was used and the officers ended up in the
control center of the facility. At the facility, the
officers were again divided into teams. Morningstar,
Enaii, Jaxam and Sabrina were to find Spankryz, while
the other group was to rescue Aspinall, Jones and
Byrne.
Gorman, Tal, Hyman and Lawrence successfully rescued
Aspinall and Jones, but did not find Byrne. Little did
they know that Byrne was already rescued and
transferred to the USS PATRIOT. Unfortunately, when
Morningstar and his team found Anaqueen at an
operating room, Spankryz was already transferred to a
Trill by the name of Lan Kelin. With Anaqueen still
having a few more hours to live, Morningstar and Enaii
rushed to find Lan and bring him back
However it was the other group who found Lan and along
with Enaii and Morningstar, they returned back to the
operating room. Dr. Jaxam and Lt. Gorman performed the
operation and the symbiont was returned back to
Anaqueen.
After Spankryz was well enough to move, the crew made
their escape out of the facility and contacted
Internal Security. Leaving Spankryz, Jaxam, Lawrence,
Rikar and Hyman at the cottage, the rest of the crew
returned back to the facility to assist Internal
Security in commandeering the base. To their
astonishment, the facility employees surrendered for
unknown reasons. However, there was no sign of any of
the leaders.
It was later revealed that two of the organization
leaders were discovered and arrested. It was hinted
that there were more leaders in the organization, but
the exact number was not known. The other leaders were
believed to have escaped. But no one knew that the
mastermind behind the black market was in fact a
human, who had successfully escaped from Homeworld to
parts unknown. With their job done, the Prophecy crew
returned back to their ship, leaving the investigation
in Internal Security hands.
Following the mission, certain reassignments were
made. Captain Erik Morningstar, Cmdr. Shioban Jaxam,
Lt. Enaii and Lt. Cleo Tal were transferred to other
assignments. Lt. Cmdr. Anaqueen Spankryz was promoted
to the position of Commanding officer. Lt. Cmdr
Sabrina Rikar and Lt. Jeffrey Gorman were reassigned
to the positions of Chief Science Officer and Chief
Medical Officer respectively.
Four new officers were assigned to the ship. Ensign
Katlina Potter would be taking over the role of Chief
of Security and Tactical. Ensign Lara Kal’el would be
the new Ship’s Counselor. Finally, Ensigns AJ O’Malley
and Griffin O’Neil IX were assigned to the positions
of Assistant Chief Engineering Officer and Assistant
Chief Science Officer, respectively.
