0304. Message in a bottle
Commanding Officer’s Log, SD: 2418[2.3] 1029.2208:
The PROPHECY was sent to investigate the disappearance
behind a Ferengi Trade vessel, whose last known
location was in the Gamma Quadrant. Before they
disappeared, the vessel sent back a distress signal.
Starfleet Command assigned us to this assignment, due
to the possibility that the Ferengi ship could have
been taken to another dimension.
We were not given many details to begin with, other
than their last known location and some information on
what the Ferengi described as a weapon, where they
mentioned a probe appearing out of nowhere and
emitting a blue light. It was possible that they were
attacked and the probe could have indeed been a
weapon. Prior to departure, we had obtained further
information regarding the disappearance. We found out
that the location of the vessel was in an abandoned
Ferengi trade route.
Upon reaching our destination, we encountered the
probe, much like the distress signal mentioned. For
the next few moments, things went by so fast that we
didn’t even have time to blink. The probe emitted a
blue light and gave out a sound that was piercing to
the ears and before long, we, at least most of us,
just blacked out.
When we finally awoke, we found the ship was damaged
very badly. We discovered that the sensors,
communications, pretty much all of the ship’s major
systems were down. At that moment, it was not known as
to what caused all of this. Luckily, our aSec/Tac,
Ensign Will Carter, had managed to be awake throughout
the whole ordeal and reported seeing a blob like ship
before the viewscreen went offline.
Once we managed to get our viewscreen online, we
finally found that we were in a graveyard, containing
lost ships. We also deduced that the Ferengi vessel
ended up in this dead space, and in order to get in
touch with them, we made it a priority to get sensors
and communication systems back online. Our goals were
then to finding the Ferengi and getting out of this
place.
Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse. It
started off with myself and Ensign Griffin O’Neil
regressing into behaving like children, even to the
point of fighting over a lollipop. We were sent to
sickbay, for the purpose of finding what happened to
us. But it seemed, there were others amongst the crew
whose behaviours were far from normal. Dr Gorman was
behaving like an elderly man, Xana Bonviva went
through a range of emotions, Jones began hearing ships
talking to each other and to herself and so on. Lt.
Dacil, for some unknown reason, went unconscious.
The situation was chaotic, as if madness erupted
everywhere in the ship. To preserve my safety as well
as that of everyone in the ship, Xana declared a state
of emergency and gave orders to have me detained in a
secure location.
While all this chaos ensued on the ship, we had a
visitor who was Tay Dacil, the brother of the ship’s
Lead Counselor. He spent his entire time in Sickbay
throughout this whole ordeal.
After some time had passed, the effects of madness
began to slowly wear off as one by one, members of the
crew slowly returned to their normal selves. Gorman
and Zanders figured out that something external was
tampering with our thought processes and along with
Jones, they found a way to block the entity from doing
anything further with our minds. Several doses of
psilosynine were sprayed into the ship’s ventilation
systems, thereby causing everyone to dream.
Meanwhile, while we were in the state of daydreaming,
Lt. Potter and Lt. Williams took out the FLUFFY BUNNY
to search for the Ferengi vessel. Sadly, when the
small ship returned with the Ferengi vessel in tow,
Lt. Potter ended up missing.
If one thought there would be no further surprises,
then they would be in for a shock. We were finally
awoken from our dreams, by a Q, who brought us to the
bridge. To further our astonishment, we were dressed
in the attire worn in our fantasies such as Dr. Gorman
wearing a hockey uniform, Jones sitting on a throne
with a scepter in her hand, Williams in a flight suit,
O’Neil dressed as a robot, O’Malley and Bonviva
wearing their night clothes, Zanders sitting on a
living horse, with Turner positioned to draw something
and myself in an odd outfit with lavender hair. This
must have been a big show for the Q, as he was
seemingly enjoying himself.
Q used this awkward gathering to explain the
situation, where he revealed that the entity
responsible for abducting the PROPHECY and all the
other vessels lying in the graveyard was Trelane,
Squire of Gothos. Q further added that Potter
willingly left with Trelane to travel the multiverse
and then sent us and the Ferengi ship back to the
GATEWAY STATION, but not before providing some
important personal advice to each of us.
In closing, I would like to state that I’ve never had
such an odd experience in my life, before embarking on
this mission. Despite knowing that as Starfleet
Officers, we had to be ready for the unexpected, well
nothing prepared us for this.
