0103. THUBEN's Plight

It began with a normal day during which the Exo, Teneill Danara, had been collaborating with Doctor Jaxam when an acquaintance of Teneill appeared. Ta'Jall had always been gentle and passive, so when he cornered the two women in order to abduct them back to his home dimension, both were shocked and surprised. The fact that Lieutenant Commander Satori had been attacked in the process only made things worse.

The moment their disappearance was discovered, the PROPHECY managed to isolate the exact dimension they had been taken to thanks to the help of Enaii allowing the ship and crew to follow and begin the difficult process of determining their exact location.

On THUBEN, Jax and Teneill began to realise that it wasn't a kidnapping per say. Ta'Jall had taken them to see a man named Mal'jorn who began to explain the situation. Mal'jorn and his people were the few telepaths on a planet of ignorant and fearful people. Telepaths were treated unjustly and segregated from the community as a whole. Mal'jorn and Ta'Jall thought that Commander Jaxam would be the perfect ambassador to the THUBEN government so that the telepaths could be treated without bias.

While Shioban and Teneill were talking with Mal'jorn, tensions in the city rose suddenly after a telepath was discovered. Ta'Jall showed them the visual footage from a news broadcast. These people, so frightened of this woman, beat her to death. It was then, that the two women truly understood the situation they were in, and realised that they had the chance to save lives.

Doctor Jaxam and Lieutenant Commander Danara went to the main Government building to see the Chancellor at which time Teneill, Shioban, Ta'Jall and Fernella were used for target practice by the local security forces.

Overhead, in orbit, the PROPHECY opened up communications with Chancellor N'Tal who promised to have his security forces on the look out for the two women. It was later discovered that no one on the PROPHECY as well as N'Tal had any idea of the turmoil the planet was in. Several away teams were beamed down to aid in the search, allowing them to experience first hand the general populace's resentment of telepaths.

Shioban and Teneill awoke to find themselves incarcerated in prison, the guest of the Chief of Internal Affairs, T'Gar. Around their necks, telepathy inhibitors, which prevented them from communicating mentally. That is when Shioban realised that the Azasi weren't working alone, they had brought in another ally, the Set'La, a race of reptilian humanoids who had a similar negative view of telepaths.

To cut a long story short, T'Gar had wanted the two women to confess to attempting to murder the Chancellor, thus 'justifying his cause' against all telepaths. Naturally, Shioban and Teneill refused leading to them being tortured for over two days. Even Enaii joined in on the act, working as an interrogator while trying to rescue them.

The PROPHECY and her away teams were faced with endless difficulties, until Enaii managed to place tracking devices on the two women. The away teams were attacked several times by T'Gar in an effort to prevent them from learning about his real plans. As time progressed T'Gar became more and more ruthless and finally succeeded in overthrowing the Chancellor of power. Violence broke out on the streets and telepaths were targeted by the populace.

Enaii tried to save Teneill and Shioban when protestors stormed the prison, forcing them to be moved to a transport area. Unfortunately, T'Gar was also there. During an escape attempt Shioban was badly hurt and the little rebellion led by Teneill was finished before it even began. When T'Gar realised that he wouldn't get a confession out of the two women, he ordered Jaxam and Teneill to be killed. Enaii managed to overwhelm the Set'La before he could carry out his order, and all three were beamed aboard, back to safety.

With THUBEN in a state of civil unrest, and his crew finally back on Board safe, Commander Erik Morningstar arranged for a compromised with T'Gar, that of having all of the telepaths relocated off the planet. T'Gar agreed but vowed that this was not the end, that one day he would have his revenge against Teneill and Shioban.
