0102. Wargames
In the hopes of improving the survival and ground
combat skills of it's
officers, Starfleet Command sent both the crews of the
USS PROPHECY and
of the GATEWAY STATION to UBTAO, a wilderness training
facility. There
the officers would take part in a simulated combat
scenario with modified phaser and the control center
of the planet keeping record of all hits made by and
against each individual.
The two crews were mixed and then divided into four
teams as follows:
ALPHA TEAM |
BETA TEAM |
Jim Denneson (GATEWAY) |
Kim Woods (GATEWAY) |
Shioban Jaxam (PROPHECY) |
Bret Maverick
(GATEWAY) |
Sabrina Rikar (PROPHECY) |
Quigan (PROPHECY) |
Sheldar Riis (PROPHECY) |
Elan Fairborn
(PROPHECY) |
AJ Porter (GATEWAY) |
Elia Duren (PROPHECY) |
DELTA TEAM |
GAMMA TEAM |
Erik Morningstar (PROPHECY) |
Teneill Danara
(PROPHECY) |
Amnia Telin (PROPHECY) |
Enaii (PROPHECY)
|
Xana Raduga (GATEWAY) |
Rusty Breckin (GATEWAY) |
Robert Collis (GATEWAY) |
Cleo Tal (PROPHECY) |
Thomas Yates (GATEWAY) |
Lianna Detora (GATEWAY) |
In addition to a tricorder which had been also
modified not to give any
readings on humanoid life forms, each member of the
teams were permitted to bring a single item within
very specific parameters. In general, ropes, daggers
and other basic tools were brought along for the
exercise.
After a lengthy flight to the planet in a crowded
shuttle, the four
Teams were beamed down in remote areas with enough
supplies to last for a few days. It was later learned
that the training exercise would last a full two weeks
thus adding a new challenge to the mission.
Each team quickly set up camp and prepared their
planning on how to
Deal with the other teams, each being more than
willing to do what it would take to come out on top at
the end of the two weeks period.
During the first nine days, a total of 109 hits were
registered by the
UBTOA computer accumulated by all teams in a wide
range of full scale
assaults on opponent base camps and smaller hit and
run encounters.
On the tenth day, having had more than enough, BETA
TEAM, under the
leadership of Lieutenant Commander Kim Woods offered a
cease fire and
invited the other teams to come and take part in a
feast of meat, fish
and berries. Although suspicious at first, all teams
gathered in peace and enjoyed a great evening.
Seeing the results of the exercise tainted by this
sudden gesture of
solidarity, Doctor Jamison, the man in charge of the
training facility,
called for the end of the mission, informing everyone
that they would
be returned to the GATEWAY STATION the next morning.
Although the news was very favourably received,
everyone involved did
not look forward to another lengthy shuttle trip,
especially considering the less than odours which were
by now encrusted in all of their clothes. Using his
modified tricorder to have the UBTAO computer send a
signal to the PROPHECY, the Oltharian Chief Engineer
managed to draw the attention of his fiancee who
arrived with the spacious vessel like a saviour.
Before their departure, Doctor Jamison beamed to the
PROPHECY and gave
out awards to those who had distinguished themselves
during the mission. Even if appearing more than
displeased by the way the mission had ended, Doctor
Jamison seemed happy to award Commendation Ribbons to
the following:
Sabrina Rikar - ALPHA TEAM - Best hit ration in team
(-1)
Bret Maverick - BETA TEAM - Best hit ration in team
(+8)
Xana Raduga - DELTA TEAM - Best hit ration in team
(+7)
Enaii - GAMMA TEAM - Best hit ration in team (+3)
In addition, the four team leaders came together and
offered the
Oltharian Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Commander Elan
Fairborn a gift as a special mention for his effort
during the exercise. A Bronzed phaser set on a small
stand with the inscription - 'Never been fired'.
After Doctor Jamison's departure from the PROPHECY,
the ship set course
for the GATEWAY STATION. During the trip, everyone
made full use of the ship's hospitality, allowing the
officers to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing return to
the station.
