On October 13, 2000 a young Woman tried out for Duke University's Football team. The young woman did profoundly well at the try-out and was surprised, when the list of those who made the team were posted, to see that she had not made the team. While reviewing the list she noticed that a particular guy that had tried out with her and did not do as well as her, had made the team. Being a straight foward young women she approached the coach and asked him why she didn't make the team and he bluntly stated "because your a girl". She was outraged by this and took it to court. She is now suing the university for $5,000,000. This is just one example of sexual discrimination against Women.

Carla overheard the lady's statement, while passing by the office. Carla knew this was her best chance to prove to the rest of the firm that she was just as good a lawyer as anyone else in the office. After the Woman left Carla approached her boss and asked him if she could take on the case. Her boss began approaching her and stating that she was a beautiful woman, but that being a woman he didn't think she could take on such an ugly case. Carla was taken by surprise by his statement.
