"You are too much." Brenda said to Jax, shaking her head and laughing. "I can't believe how everyone was fawning over you down there. Are you famous at all the luxurious hotels in the world?"
Jax blushed, and put the key into the door of the Royal Executive Suite at the Plaza hotel in NYC. "Not *every* hotel - but I always have Addie call before I arrive and make all the arrangements. So needless to say - every wish you have will be taken care of."
Brenda smiled up at him. "Every wish I have has already been answered." she kissed his cheek and then walked into the suite as Jax followed with all the luggage. "Wow......." Brenda murmured, looking around the spacious suite with wide-eyes.
"You like it?" Jax asked, coming behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her head.
"Like it? I love it!" Brenda exclaimed gazing around her. The suite had two levels. They were standing in the main room that was a combination foyer/den/dining room. The foyer and dining room were slightly above the den which was one step down. The entire opposite wall from the front door was glass windows that looked out on NYC. The floors were cherry wood with plush white rugs. There were two large creme and rose colored couches in the den with cherry furniture and a large screen television and full entertainment center. Next to the dining room which was the kitchen and then a bathroom. A spiral staircase ran from the den to the upper level which had a master suite with a balcony that looked over the den. Brenda scurried through the suite, shrieking and talking excitedly about how much she loved everything. When she got to the stairs, she turned and looked at Jax, her eyes twinkling. "Care to go upstairs Mr. Jacks?"
Jax chased her up the spiral staircase and into the master suite. Tossing their suitcases on the floor, he burst into laughter when he saw Brenda jumping on the king size bed.
"Come dance with me!" Brenda cried, dancing around the bed.
Jax shook his head. "No - come down."
"Come up."
"Come down." Jax said impatiently, standing next to the bed and biting his lip to keep from smiling. "We need to talk about what we're going to do today." He looked at his watch. "Time is wasting...."
Brenda stopped jumping, and got off the bed, smiling seductively and raising a slender eyebrow. "Well, I don't know about you..." she came close to Jax, and trailed her forefinger up Jax's chest very slowly. "but I think the first thing we need to take care of is trying out this bed over here."
"You do?" Jax raised an eyebrow and flashed her a lopsided grin. He looked down at Brenda who was slowly unbuttoning his shirt and kissing his exposed skin as she worked her way down. He shuddered with desire.
"Definitely." Brenda murmered, as she undid the last button and completely removed his shirt. Flirtatiously, she tossed his shirt on the floor and stepped back, "Now I do believe it's my turn." Grinning, she turned her back to him, and slowly unzipped her pale pink sundress. Sliding it sexily down her body, she whipped around and faced him, holding it over her unexposed breasts. Jax stood watching her, fighting the desire to grab her and put an end to this sweet torture. Suddenly she dropped the dress, exposing a creme bra and panties. She flung the dress onto the floor next to his shirt and kicked her sandals off.
Jax looked at her with wonder. He had never seen a more beautiful sight in his entire life. He walked towards her, and ran his hands up her arms until he was cupping her face in his hands. Leaning forward, he kissed her lips tenderly at first, tracing the line of her lips and then running his tongue over the crease before seizing her mouth passionately. Her hands ran through his hair, pulling him closer to her, and intensifying the already fire-hot kiss by rubbing her tongue against his and causing such desire in him that he thought he might pass out. His hands ran down her back and over to her stomach. He cupped her breasts in his strong hands and unclasped her bra, tossing it onto the floor. Brenda stepped back, adn began to unbuckle his belt. She was fumbling with the clasp because she was nearly trembling with passion for him. Jax couldn't take it anymore, and quickly took his pants off, stepped out of them, and in one swift motion, pushed her down onto the bed, running his hand down her stomach, and kissing her neck. Drawing away slightly, he caressed her cheek and smiled at her. "We're going to be late for dinner you know."
Brenda responded by kissing him. "Just make love to me." she whispered. And he did.

"So what caused your distraction this time?" Kieron teased when Brenda and Jax finally joined them in the lobby. It was 6 p.m. and Juliet, Kieron, Ned and Lois had been waiting in the lobby for over 40 minutes for Jax and Brenda to come down and decide where they were all going to go have dinner.
"Oh calm down. We're on vacation." Jax ordered Kieron shaking his head. "You my friend, have got to learn how to chill out."
Kieron rolled his eyes. "Chill out? You - Jasper Jacks - are telling me to chill out?" he shook his head. "Love sure does have a strange effect on people."
"Doesn't it?" Juliet smiled, her eyes meeting Lois' and communicating silently in a way that only female friends can about how great things were looking for Brenda who was enveloped in Jax's arms at the moment.
"Okay!" Ned said, trying to pull everyone together. "What does everyone want to do tonight?" He noticed the intimate look that Jax and Brenda gave each other, and groaned. "I'm talking about *group* activites you two."
Brenda giggled and Jax blushed. "Sorry."
"It's okay." Ned laughed. "As I was saying - what does everyone want to do?"
"Well, Juliet and I are both starving." Lois announced.
"And we know these two have worked up quite an appetite." Kieron teased pointing to Jax and Brenda.
Juliet slapped him playfully on the knee. "You are so bad." she said shaking a finger at him. He caught her hand and kissed it smiling.
"What if we go to Cafe Pomodoro on Madison Avenue?" Brenda suggested, sliding onto Jax's lap and wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "It has fabulous Italian food, and everyone here likes pasta."
Everyone agreed and began to file out of the hotel into the city.
*****************************************************************************************************
"I'd like to propose a toast." Lois announced, holding up her glass of champagne and smiling at everyone seated around the round table in the expensive and chic Italian restaurant. "To new friendships, new loves and good times. I hope this is the first vacation of many that we will all spend together."
"Here here." Everyone clinked their glasses together and sipped the champagne. Jax leaned back in his chair and looked around him. Ned and Kieron were engaged in a heated, yet strangely friendly debate about the direction ELQ should be taken in, while Juliet, Brenda and Lois chatted about where they were going to go shopping the next day. Jax sighed happily. He couldn't remember the last time he'd ever felt this content and happy. Everything in his life seemed to be exactly the way it should be, and that terrified him because the woman seated next to him, holding his hand wasn't his real fiancee - it was almost as though she were on loan to him and that soon he'd have to give her back. The problem was that unlike everything else in his life which he'd always been able to replace - Brenda was priceless, and nothing would ever be able to compare to her again. She had ruined and saved him at the same time, and he was filled with confusion. Somehow sensing his torment, Brenda glanced over at him, and smiled a private smile, squeezing his hand. Juliet saw the look the two of them exchanged, and grinned at Lois. Suddenly Juliet knew without any doubt that everything was going to be fine. Because in her brother's eyes she saw something she'd never seen before: Love. Whether he knew it or not, Jax was madly in love with Brenda, and he was never going to let her go.
*****************************************************************************************************
"Jules? Am I dreaming or are Jax and Brenda actually here before everyone else?" Kieron asked as he and Juliet walked into the dining room for breakfast the next morning.
Juliet glanced over to where Kieron was pointing and sure enough, Jax and Brenda were seated at a table surrounded by flowers, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. They both looked wide awake (of course, Juliet suspected they hadn't gotten much sleep, but glancing at Kieron, she realized she wasn't really one to talk) and were dressed for fun. Brenda was wearing an ice blue tank dress with her hair in a french twist, Jax was dressed in khaki pants and a blue polo shirt. "Morning you two!" Juliet called out as she sat down next to Brenda.
"Now this is a shock." Kieron teased, elbowing Jax, who elbowed him back. "Looks like Nedly is the distracted one this morning." he laughed pouring himself and Juliet some coffee and taking a danish from the bread basket.
Two minutes later, Ned and Lois arrived, apologizing and explaining that Lois was talking to her mom about when she was going to visit Bensonhurst.
"So girls - are you ready for a wild morning shopping?" Brenda asked excitedly, as she ate her muffin and fruit salad.
"I have all my credit cards out and ready to go." Juliet laughed, opening up her wallet and flashing rows of Gold and Platinum cards.
"Oh no...." Kieron groaned. "Guys - we're going to have to work really hard today on this new deal because if it goes under we may not have any money left when the girls are finished."
Ned and Jax burst into laughter and agreement, but they were silenced by the dirty looks the women sent them. "What are you boys planning on doing while we're gone?" Brenda asked.
The men looked at each other, and grinned secretely. "Oh no....." Lois groaned. "That look -" she pointed at Ned's face with her long fingrnails. "I've seen that look before, and I don't like it."
"Are you going to get into trouble?" Brenda asked Jax nervously.
"I seem to remember you being the one with jail problems sweetheart." Jax teased, brushing away a tendril that had tumbled onto her face.
"You're going to humiliate us aren't you?" Juliet sighed.
Kieron shook his head sadly, and pouted. "So little faith."
"Don't worry." Ned assured Lois, smiling and kissing her. "We've got it all under control. Right guys?" Kieron and Jax nodded enthusiastically and slapped hands.
"That's exactly what I'm afraid of." Lois moaned, looking at the devilish grins on the gorgeous male faces around her. They were definitely up to something, and god knew what the ramifications would be....
*****************************************************************************************************
"Okay girls - What do you think of this skirt? Is it too short?" Brenda held the filmy lavender skirt in front of her.
Juliet shook her head. "Not at all - it's gorgeous, and it will go perfectly with that chenille creme sweater you bought at Chanel."
"You're right!" Brenda cried excitedly dancing her little Brenda dance and putting the skirt in her huge pile of "to buy" items. It was almost 4 p.m. and the three women were in Valentino - the final store in their 6 hour shopping spree. They had hit nearly every store on 5th Avenue, and the limo was packed with boxes and bags of shoes, dresses, skirts, blouses, sweaters, pants, shirts, jewelry, hand bags, make-up, perfume. You name it, and one of them had bought it that day. As Lois modeled a piercing blue pants suit for the two of them, Brenda thought about how wonderful her life was. She couldn't get over how well Juliet and Lois were getting along. For the first time in her life, she felt like she had a family - sisters, brothers, a mom, dad and...a soon to be husband. At the thought of Jax, a smile spread across her mouth and she sighed. Jax..he was everything she'd ever wanted, and there was no way she was going to lose him.
Thirty minutes later, they walked out of Valentino, dropped their purchases off in the limo, and strolled over to Starbucks to get some coffee.
"Look Lo -" Brenda held up a flyer that was on the table. "There's a karaoke bar down the street. Maybe we should go...." she smiled and raised an eyebrow.
Lois grinned. "Time to scope out some new talent. Good idea partner."
Juliet looked between the two of them confused. "Karaoke? Why do you guys want to go to a karaoke bar? I didn't know either of you sang."
"We like to go to see if there's any possible talent for L&B." Brenda explained. "I know it sounds ridiculous, but you'd be surprised by what you can find there."
"Especially in New York City." Lois added. "The good and the bad, New York is New York and there are a lot of talented people here waiting to be discovered."
"Cool." Juliet smiled. "You know, I actually considered buying SONY records a few years ago, but I backed out in the end because Justin wanted it."
"Really?" Brenda was surprised. "But he doesn't own it anymore."
Juliet rolled her eyes. "of course not - he sold it. But, I've always regretted not buying it then. It must be really interesting work."
"It is." Lois confirmed. "you should come help Brenda and I out."
"Okay." Juliet took a sip of her cappucino. "So - what do you guys think the big secret the guys are keeping from us is?"
Brenda rolled her eyes and twirled the straw to her Mocha Madness Frappechino. "They're probably seizing some company or something. I'm sure it's not a big deal."
"i'm just happy that they're bonding." Lois responded. "Ned seems to be having a lot of fun, or whatever they'd call it with Kieron and Jax, and I couldn't be more delighted."
Juliet and Brenda both agreed. "What do you think they're doing right now?" Juliet asked.
Brenda giggled. 'They're probably sitting in some boring business meeting, wasting this beautiful day and planning a hostile takeover."
*****************************************************************************************************
"Strike? Are you kidding me? That was a ball - it was so far off the plate that would have had to dive to reach it."
Kieron took off his umpire/catcher's mask and put his hands on his hips. "Llisten Jax - I'm the umpire, and I said it was a strike, so put the bat down and switch with Ashton. It's your turn to pitch."
"Fine." Jax said with feigned anger. As he stalked to the pitcher's mound, he turned and gave Kieron a small smile. "Ball...." he murmered just loud enough so Kieron could hear him.
Kieron rolled his eyes, and pulled the mask back over his face as Ned practiced his swing. "Okay Jax, give it your best Australian try because I'm about to show you how us Americans play ball...." Ned taunted Jax as he wound up to pitch.
"Ball one." Kieron cried. Jax glared at him, and pitched 2 strikes in a row. They two balls. " Full count." Kieron announced. Determined, Jax wound up and threw a perfect pitch straight down the middle of the plate. Ned swung a second too late and missed. "Strike three!"
Ned shook his head. "You're good Jacks." he praised. "Another thing to add to the list of what Jasper JAcks *can* do - baseball."
Jax slapped him on the back. "You aren't so shabby yourself Ashton." he recalled the amazing catches and hits Ned had made earlier.
"hey! Thanks guys." Kieron teased, walking up behind them and pretending to be hurt. "Is this the thanks I get for umpiring?"
"Thanks." Ned and Jax said in unison.
"No problem." kieron smiled. "But next time - one of you gets to umpire."
They agreed, and picked up the gloves and bats and began to trek out of Central Park towards the hotel.
"Well....." Kieron said as they stopped at a vendor to buy some sodas. "We didn't get all the business done today that we'd intended, but i'm glad we stopped to play baseball, it's such a beautiful day that it would be a shame to spend it all in the office."
Jax grinned. "Besides - we got the latest updates from William, so this way we can look over them and see what steps to take tomorrow."
Ned nodded. "Good plan." he checked his watch. It was 5 p.m. "I wonder if the women are done shopping yet."
"Brenda's never done shopping." Jax answered laughing.
Kieron agreed and said that Juliet wasn't either, Ned just stared at the billboard next to them and groaned. "Oh no...."
"What?" Kieron asked, looking confused.
Ned pointed at the advertisement which was for a local karaoke bar. "There's a karaoke bar here. Pray that Lois and Brenda haven't seen that because if they have the six of us are headed for a night of Karaoke Hell while L&B search for new talent."
"You're kidding me." Kieron moaned. "They don't really think they're going to find talent in a karaoke bar."
"Yes they do." Ned confirmed.
"Hey! You guys, if we don't want to go, they can't make us." Jax cried, smiling a "we're men" smile. "We'll just tell them that we want to do something else and that the six of us have to agree on something."
Kieron looked at him like he was insane. "And you honestly think that's going to work?"
"Yeah Jax - I think you're underestimating the women's power of persuasion."
Jax rolled his eyes. "Trust me guys, if I don't want to go, nothing is going to make me walk into the karaoke bar."
*****************************************************************************************************
"Oh Jax! Aren't you excited to hear karaoke?" Brenda asked, holding his hand and walking into the karaoke bar later that evening.
"Yeah Jax - aren't you excited? Afterall, you were the only guy who *wanted* to go here." Kieron smirked at his best friend, recalling the incident in the hotel lobby 45 minutes earlier when Lois, Brenda and Juliet had been begging the guys to go to the bar. Ned and Kieron had held out, but all Brenda had to do was look at Jax with her big brown eyes, pout a little and he'd caved.
Jax shot Kieron a look and then turned to Brenda. "I don't know if excited is the word I'm looking for, but I'm happy to be here with you." Brenda responded by kissing him.
"Let's sit here right by the stage." Lois pulled out a stool, and sat down, crossing her legs and smoothing her black A-line jumper that she was wearing over a white baby tee.
Ned sat next to her, then Kieron, Juliet, Brenda and Jax. The six of them made quite a picture. Ned, Jax and Kieron dressed in expensive Italian black suits. Juliet wearing a pair of black cigarette pants with an ice blue cropped sweater, Lois wearing her black jumper and Brenda in a creme pair of fitted pants with a matching creme cropped tank (the same outfit she wore on GH when she met Jax's parents). Their table eluded youth, beauty, wealth and power. Everyone in the bar couldn't help watching them.
"So - are any of you ladies going to bless us with a performance tonight?" Kieron asked as he took a handful of popcorn from the basket in the middle of the table.
"I don't think so." Lois shook her head. "But - I think the three of you will be doing some singing."
Ned laughed, knowing that she was talking to him. "I'll sing if you want me to sweetheart." Lois smiled and kissed Ned gently on the lips.
"I want." she answered.
Juliet wrapped her arms around Kieron's shoulders. "What about you Mr. McKinnon? Are you warming up those vocal chords?"
Kieron raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly. "Oh come on Kier - I remember you singing at Mum's parties when we were young. You were really good."
"Really?" Lois cried. "Maybe L&B's newest star is sitting right before our eyes. You and Ned could start a band called the 'Corporate Pirates'."
Kieron and Ned both looked at eachother and rolled their eyes. "Maybe." Kieron finally conceeded. Juliet grinned and kissed him on the cheek.
"So......" Brenda slid onto Jax's lap and wrapped her arms around his neck. "What about you Mr. Jacks?"
"Don't even let the idea enter your beautiful little head." Jax warned. Brenda pouted, and for the first time, Jax didn't give in immediately. "I'm not singing honey - believe me, you'll be humiliated if I do."
Brenda looked up at him with big brown puppy-dog eyes.
"No." Jax refused.
Brenda sighed. "Fine." she gave up for the moment. "Don't sing." She looked over at Lois and Juliet and smiled secretely - she knew that Jax would change his mind.
*****************************************************************************************************
"I can't believe you just did that Kieron." Jax said, shaking his head as Kieron walked off the stage to huge applause. He'd just sung Earth Angel for Juliet and now he was being smothered by kisses by his baby sister.
Lois grinned. "Kieron - you were fabulous. Wow! I'm impressed."
"So am I." Brenda praised. "I never imagined you could sing that way."
Kieron shrugged bashfully and grinned self-confidently. "Well....you know."
Jax smiled in spite of himself as he watched the women fawn over his best friend. He had to admit that Kieron had done a great job - playing the song up by kneeling in front of his sister at the end and singing the last verse to her. It was amazing to him that both Ned and Kieron had sung tonight. First Ned had sung an Eddie Maine song - obviously and everyone in the bar had gone completely wild when they realized they had an actual rock star singing, and the Kieron had gotten up. Now Jax had to deal with Brenda who was softly stroking the back of his neck and gazing up at him with a pleading and hopeful look in her dark eyes. He swallowed and tried to ignore the the power she had over him.
Kieron watched Jax fighting himself out of the corner of his eyes and laughed quietly. Jax had always hated singing. Even as a little boy. Kieron thought about all the Christmas' when Jax would refuse to sing carols with their families. It was strange because Jax actually had a good voice - it wasn't asthough he couldn't carry a tune, but for some reason he just hated singing. Brenda didn't realize it, but she was begging Jax to do the impossible - overcome one of his greatest fears.
"Brenda - You don't understand how scared I am of singing in front of people." Jax whispered. "I'm not doing this to be mean to you, I'm just really scared."
"Ohhh...." Brenda crooned, caressing his face and smiling slightly. "My poor baby is scared. Well Jax, you know someone once told me that the best thing to do when you're scared is to face the fear and conquer it."
Jax blushed at how she was throwing his words back in his face. "I know - but I just can't do this for you right now. I'm sorry."
Brenda smiled and sighed. "Oh honey - don't be sorry. I understand. And as much as I would have loved to see you up there singing, I would never ask you to do something you really didn't want to do." She touched his cheek softly. "However, I know you'd do an amazing job. THere's nothing for you to be afraid of."
Jax kissed her tenderly on the lips.
"Okay." Brenda said, getting off his lap. "I'll be back in a minute - I'm going to go to the ladies' room." She kissed him again on the lips and then excused herself.
Jax smiled to himself as he watched her walk to the ladies' room, all the men turning to watch her. She was so beautiful and full of life.
"So Jax - are you going to finish the night off with one final performance?" Lois asked grinning.
"Jax *hates* singing." Juliet announced smiling at her brother and patting his hand with hers.
"Yes ladies and gentlemen - Mr. Jasper Jacks has jumped off the highest mountains, gone lion hunting and battled the toughtest rapids, but the one thing he won't do is sing in public. He may be close - but he isn't superman." Kieron teased laughing.
Jax shot him a look. He sighed, glancing in the direction of the ladies' room and thinking about how much Brenda wanted him to sing. He also thought about how she was right that he had to conquer this fear. Above anything in the world, he wanted to make her happy, and he knew that his singing would make her evening perfect. "Get ready to sing the Superman theme song best pal." Jax got up from his chair and slapped Kieron on the back.
Kieron's mouth dropped open as he watched Jax walk up to the DJ table and begin talking to the man. "I can't believe this...." he whispered to himself.
Juliet smiled at Lois. "This is the ultimate sacrifice my brother's making here. i'd say that our little plan is going even better than we could have hoped for. The two women slapped hands under the table and laughed.
The table got quiet as Jax stepped up onto the small stage, microphone in hand. He looked over at Kieron and Ned for a moment, and that was a mistake, because his two friends were biting their lips to keep from bursting out in laughter. Just seeing the looks on their faces nearly made Jax get off the stage and return to the safety of his seat, but then he saw her. Standing across the room next to the bar. Brenda had just walked out of the ladies' room and she was gazing at him with a smile on her face, her dark eyes sparkling. For a moment, time seemed to stand still as he looked into her eyes - eyes that gave him the courage and the reason to embarrass himself in front of a room full of people. The spell was broken when she whispered, "Good luck." and walked to her seat. Shaking his head slightly, Jax found his voice. "Bren - this is for you." he said winking att her. Suddenly the melody to "Brown Eyed Girl" filled the bar, and Jax quietly began to sing. He was timid at first, but then everyone in the bar started clapping and Jax looked over at Brenda who was looking at him with such adoration and pride that he gained confidence and gave the song everything he had. As the song ended, Brenda got up from her seat and ran over to him as he walked off the stage. "You are amazing Jasper Jacks." she whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck. He kissed her and then buried his face in her hair. "And I love you with all my heart." she whispered to herself.
*****************************************************************************************************
"Oh my god Jax! You've got to come see this!" Brenda called into the bathroom from the bed where she was eating popcorn and watching television. It was midnight and she and Jax were back in their suite hanging out and getting ready for bed. While Jax was in the shower, she'd been flipping through the channels trying to find something to watch when she'd found an interviewer on E! showing footage of herself and Jax at the karaoke bar that night.
"And now for some lighter news," the woman was saying, "Deception model Brenda Barrett was spotted shopping on 5th Avenue today with best friends Juliet Jacks, the sister of her fiancee and Lois Ashton, wife of millionaire CEO Ned Ashton and Ms. Barrett's partner in L&B Records. The three women were later seen at Pete's Bar on 49th Street watching karaeoke with their significant others. With Ms. Barrett was her new fiancee, billionaire corporate raider Jasper "Jax" Jacks who until last week was one of the most sought after bachelor's in the world. We're sorry ladies, but from what our cameramen saw tonight, Jax is very spoken for."
Brenda burst into laughter when she saw a clip of Jax singing Brown Eyed Girl to her.
"Oh my god." Jax moaned, burying his face in his hands. "I'm never going to live this down."
Brenda giggled and leaned against him. "I think you're adorable, and after everyone sees this program tonight, I'll probably be the envy of every woman in the world."
Jax blushed and kissed her forehead. They both went back to watching the clip which ended with Brenda rushing to Jax when he'd finished singing and then the two of them kissing.
Brenda sighed as she shut the TV off. "Remind me to call E! tomorrow and get a tape of that."
"Oh! I'm sure I'll remind you to do that." Jax rolled his eyes, and ruffled her hair. "That way I can relive this horror over and over again."
Brenda turned her head and saw that he was smiling. "You loved it."
"I did? And what makes you say that?" Jax moved so that his head was in her lap.
Brenda combed her fingers through his hair and smiled. "I saw the way you looked up there. You looked alive and completely in control. Your eyes were sparkling and I know you loved the attention."
Jax grinned. "There was only one person who's attention I wanted." he took her hand, and kissed the palm then her wrist. Slowly he began to make his way up her arm.
Brenda felt tremors run through her body from his touch. "Well you've certainly got it now." she whispered, "and you always will."

Far away in California, a dark haired man sat at his desk, watching E! with a wicked smirk on his handsome face. As he watched the camera pan over J&B sitting with Lois, Ned and a kissing Juliet and Kieron he laughed wickedly. The final shot was of J&B laughing and kissing. "Have fun while you can...." he murmered as he licked a white envelope and scribbled Jax's name and the address of the penthouse on it. "Because the good times will soon be over." He laughed bitterly as he picked up a dart and threw it so that it went right through the bulls' eye which was a picture of Juliet. "Ladies and gentlemen - let the games begin."
