you wanna know what I pray for? cuz I was born cursed

born first, I saw my newborn sister die

didn't cry, held the fetal frame, and then I wished her bye

walked over to moms then I told her to lift ya eyes

& when you feel weak, just pray - hold ya head and kiss the sky

I hope you listen, God, that's the main reason I pray

and plus, life is fragile I know that I can be breathing today

the next, be the reason why my mom grieves and she prays

I was taught that life is what I make it, can't see it your way

but you can show me what life is like when all of the pain stops

I'ma take my own route, & pray we meet up in the same spot

after the raindrops, and the rainbow, I hope heaven appears

& there are fewer curses than there were blessings this year

I swear, I'm tryna stay out of trouble, & tryna get right wit God

and I pray because death is certain, plus! life is hard

you wanna know what I pray for? cuz I'm so sick

and I know 5 live guys that didn't survive the '06

I feel myself slippin & there's no grip, still I'm holdin on

hoping that, everything I've ever been told is wrong

and that there is a heaven for me, and there are good people around it

where I'm from, that's the only thing keepin me grounded

you wanna know what I pray for? cuz everyday's war

and when I feel like giving up, something tells me to pray more

it's at that moment that I feel closest to Christ

cuz I know what it's like, just going through strife

grabbin on to faith, and just holding it tight - praying for a better day

you can say to God, some things, to another man, that you could never say

you wanna know what I pray for? cuz I'm only a human

I just follow God's plan, & trust that he know's what he's doin

you wanna know what I pray for? what I pray for?

I pray because, I'll never walk with my first child, holding his hand

pray because my father, will never see me grow as a man

I pray because, my lil sister never got to look her bigger brother up

pray because the life after life, just isn't up to us

I pray because, I'll admit I haven't led a great lifestyle

pray because...in fact I have to go pray right now
