Humanities is a broad title that intertwines itself with many words. The words given to us in this assignment, history, art, literature, society, culture, socio-economics, and film all are a part of the definition of humanities; each of these words adds a different aspect to the definition of humanities. Humanities isn’t just art, the human effort to imitate, supplement, alter, or counteract the work of nature, but it’s also culture, the body of written works of a language, period, or culture. Humanities also deal with the socio-economics or classification of various social classes by financial status. Also, socio-economics and culture and art have a profound effect on society. Society is the totality of social relationships among humans, and relationships can’t be established without common ground (Common ground meaning personality traits, hobbies, etc. that people have in common); common ground is developed by understanding a persons cultural background - their history. History is an established record or pattern of behavior; the branch of knowledge that records and analyzes past events. Humanities encompass all this with its definition. Those branches of knowledge, such as philosophy, literature, and art, that are concerned with human thought and culture; the liberal arts. Mankind collectively; the human race. Mental cultivation; liberal education; instruction in classical and polite literature
I had a harder time figuring out where the words literature and film would fit into humanities, but some of the most renowned films and pieces of literature deal with humanities; for example, The Diary of Anne Frank, a novel detailing the experience of Jewish child during the Holocaust. Literature, film, and art are a mean of communicating humanities.
