To Whom It May Concern:
The ice hockey team of Florida State University is starting its sixth season. To be a member of this prestigious team, one must maintain a 2.5 grade-point average while being a full time student. Because this team is a club sport, the University provides only a minimal amount of money compared to the large budget required to run the hockey team. Therefore, the team members must come up with the extra money necessary to travel to Orlando, the team's home ice, since the Leon County Civic Center does not supply the team with ice for weekly practices and home games. The other games are within a five-hour drive of Tallahassee. There are normally multiple games played during a weekend, leaving the players no choice but to rent hotel rooms for two nights per weekend. The students run this program themselves, meaning that they pay out of their pockets for transportation, hotel expenses and equipment. There are 20 regular season games, none of which are at home.
The ice hockey team of Florida State University would like for you to consider any type of donation to help with the team's enormous expenses. Your generous contribution will be tax deductible. With a $100 donation, you will receive a white polo shirt with the FSU Ice Hockey logo embroidered on the chest pocket area. Please make the check out to "FSU Foundation" with "ice hockey" in the memo. You may send your contribution to the following address:
FSU Ice Hockey
