About Us
How We Operate:

Thank you for being interested in learning more about us!  We are an organization of education students at Ferris State University brought together to share our common values and beliefs in education.  We do many activities throughout each semester, as well as hold one general meeting and one professional development meeting every-other week.  Professional development meetings are a time for us to reflect upon what it takes to become an effective teacher.  During these times we will either have a guest speaker attend, have a group activity lesson, or just share ideas.  During our general meetings we will discuss what is happening in PDK, and what we are going to be doing throughout the semester.  These meetings are also a time for members/inductees to voice their opinion.  If you are interested in becoming a member, or just want to find out more about Phi Delta Kappa, PLEASE attend one of our meetings!
For the Fall 2004 semester, all meetings will be held in FLITE Library, room 214 at 11:00 am - 11:45 am.  General meetings will take place on Sept. 9th, Sept. 23rd, Oct. 21st, and Nov. 18th.  Professional development meetings will take place on Oct. 7th, Nov. 4th, and Dec. 2nd.  The dues for Phi Delta Kappa are only $40.00 a year.  Joining our organization will not only give you an opportunity to make friends and become more aware of the profession of teaching, but it is also a great resume builder!

Our Mission Statement:

CREATED FEBRUARY 1, 2004

Our mission, as a group, is to increase active membership including completing 250 hours of community service as a group while staying active in the Big Rapids Community.  As active members we will raise membership through increased campus awareness.

My mission, as a Kappan, is to develop myself as a leader in education through my increased individual involvement and a developed solid peer network.  I will take a more active role in Phi Delta Kappa by being involved in committees, fundraising and the organization as a whole.  Overall, having fun while making new friends.
