~A Little About Us~
I grew up in Greesboro, North Carolina. I moved to Virgina to be closer to my parents who had moved to their vacation home permanently. Carl is a Native of South Hill, Virginia. South Hill is a very small community where everybody knows everybody. Such a beautiful area(Lake County), that many tourists come from around the country to see the beautiful lakes and other magnificent scenery.
I am an animal lover!! Cats, dogs, birds, fish, hamsters, goats, chickens, geese and the list goes on and we have housed them all. Some we found abandoned and later found homes for. Some were given to us by families that could no longer care for them. I think that the love of animals came from my parents. Carl is an avid woodworker can build anything! Most of the work is custom designed. At the age of 30, after suffering for most of his life with Asthma, Bronchitis, Pneumonia, and other respiratory problems; Carl was diagnosed with Emphezima brought on by a genetic disease known as ALPHA-1 He had watched his Father die of what must have been the same disease (never diagnosed). They have not given him many years but we are fighting it with all we can. Please keep him and all the other ALPHA's in your prayers! Jeremiah An active member of his church! Loves all kinds of sports (I find this scary the older he gets). He is superb at sketching. He is aspiring to be a Chemist! Jeremiah is very kind and gentle with the little guys, they all love him. Rachel
Also, very active in church and a member of the Missionettes. She is an avid swimmer, bicycler, and adores children. Her strongest point in school is Reading. She is the humorist in the family--other than Carl! Roger
Well, RT is a character! For years he thought he was an Alien (from Pluto)!!!! He is very bright takes everything apart to see how it works--this does get him into some trouble! He is a member of Royal Rangers at church. RT is definitely the Mathematician in the family can do most anything in his head. Pettie and Emma Lou Pettie(white and brown) and Emma Lou(brown) are special at our house! My Grandmother Ruth Beck passed away suddenly in 1999 of Cancer and these were her Babies! The family gave Carl and I the honor of taking them into our home! They literally run the house. No one can come to our porch with out them letting us know!! Pettie and Emma Lou have truly blessed our home with their antics and quirks--that only my grandmother could have shown them! She was a special lady and we all miss her dearly! |
