There is a very special
school of thangka painting in Dolpo (northern Nepal), handed down from
father to son, and still alive at the present time. Some paintings
deriving from this school are presently identified as “Ladakhi”.
We would like to clarify the special character of Dolpo thangkas and improve
on the identification of thangkas in Western collections. Here are
