One of the other 3 arowana species that live in South America particularly the Amazon river, while the other two being the silver arowana and the giant arapaima. It is said that the black arowana is one of the tamest if not the tamest of all arowana species or while other black arowana owners have often stated that this arowana tends to be shy, often retreating at the back of internal filters. They closely resemble the silver arowana in its body structure although the coloration of the fins maybe slightly different when they are juveniles, a black arowana when it becomes an adult, its fins would have an olive green to a black line or sheen at the bottom of its fins. A 3-4 inch juvenile would cost at around PHP 1200-1600 here in the Philippines
