This paper intends to introduce the Boehm’s six basic steps of Software Risk Management (SRM), and argues if SRM ensures system quality. This paper begins with an introduction of software quality, software risk and Software Risk Management (SRM), and intends to reveal their relationships. The Boehm’s six basic steps for SRM are introduced by analyzing an application. There are weaknesses for SRM, and the third chapter compares the Spiral Model with the Agile Methodology in order to reveal SRM’s strength and weaknesses, as well as the schemes to improve its weaknesses. The last chapter summarizes what is discussed in this paper.
