Rear view of castle taken from what was probably the fruit
and vegetable garden which has given way to the stunning
seasonal floral gardens.

Cawdor Castle is situated 11 miles East of Inverness
and public
transport is available should it be required. To view
both the castle and the gardens can take the better part of
the day, so if you do not intend to dine in the castle
restaurant, remember your picnic for which tables and
benches are available.
The origins of the castle date back to 1400 when
construction of the oldest part of the castle, the central
keep, was commenced.
The visitor can enjoy the castle, which assails one with a
powerful atmosphere of Scottish history, combined with a
cosy 'lived in'feeling, not surprising, since it is a home as
well as a castle, before proceeding to view the gardens, or
perhaps embark on one of the woodland trails or walks.
