Very little happened to the RM’s in the early days. One significant bus to work from Fulwell was RM 664. When new this bus
was delivered in un-painted aluminium, like the tube trains. The bus spent a few months at many garages around London, and
was allocated to Fulwell from 9/4/94.
One of the few route changes to affect the Routemasters was the Monday – Saturday extension of route 281 from
Twickenham to Hounslow, over the 73 route.
The nearby
small Twickenham garage closed on 18/4/1970,
and most of it’s buses transferred to Fulwell. This introduced RT’s
to Fulwell for the first time. These appeared
on the Routemaster, routes from time to time as substitutes.
