You'll Need (for each ): Seed packet at least 3 3/8" X 4 1/2" Muslin 3 3/4" circle for head and 1 3/4" X 6" strip for arms Scrap of felt or muslin for shoes. Scrap of white thread Polyester fiberfill 4" of stiff bendable wire and 10" of tie wire Black and rose acrylic paint Tacky glue Small paint brushes A few strands of raffia or a 5 1/2" strip of paper twist for wings Seeds from package or potpourri, cinnamon, basil, dry mossor twine for the hair Craft knife

To Make: Head: Fold 1/8" at edge of muslin circle to wrong side. Sew running stitches near edge; pull thread to gather slightly. Stuff with fiberfill, shaping fairly flat face. Gather tightly and fasten at back of head.
Neck: Bend stiff wire to form a 1/2" wide U. cut a 1/2" slit at bottom of head; glue3/4" at ends of wite through slit.
Face: Lightly brush rose paint on cheeks with a dry brush. Paint black eyes and a rose mouth.
Hair: Place a loose material for hair in a small bowl (slit bottom of package to empty seeds.) Coat front hairline and entire back of head with glue. Dip head to form hair. When dry, add a second layer if necessary.
Wings: Cut a 3" X 5" strip of fwisted paper. or wind faffia to form a 5" wide loop. Tie 4" long hanging loop from same strip.
Arms: Press 1/4" under on one long edge and 5/8" under on opposite edge of the 6" musline strip. Run a line of glue over second raw edge and lap folded edge over it. Let dry. With seam in back, knot center of strip to form hands.
Body and shoes: trace body and shoe pattern (below). Cut body from seed package, leaving a 1/2" slit for neck at center top. Cut shoes from felt or muslin glued to paper.Leaving armholes open, glue edges of body together, inserting shoes at center bottom. Glue ends of arms into sleeves, "neck" wire into top slit and wings to back shoulders. |
