If
groovy 70’s influenced metal works for you and you suddenly after
a six-pack of beer feel like banging you head a bit. Just in case
check out if Dead Revolution is in town for a gig. I usually like my
metal more extreme, but hell, this still works for me. I can easily
imagine that with an energetic performance DR would sound even
better live than on record.
I’m
clad to discover this kind of band that doesn’t fall into the
infernal pit of bad singing. That’s obviously one of the main
reasons why many melodic metalbands get stuck to being just
demobands and nothing more. With DR I don’t think that will be the
case. The singer (Timo Nissinen) is a talented singer with a
suitable voice for this kind of riff-based straight forward rocking
metal. The song Blindside really brings the old doom band Solitude
Aeturnus to my mind, especially the singer reminds a lot of
Solitude’s singer on that track.
Anyway
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear this band on a full-length album
in the future. I just hope that the guys would get more variation to
their songs. Like more quiet/slow parts combined to the faster and
very groovy songs like these three. So in the end this is not
perfect but definitely worth checking out if you are interested in
metal, which has elements from stoner rock, modern metal and 70’s
hard rock.
