G.O.R.E. – Demo ’02 (FIN)

Laitila, Finland! That’s the birth place of this dynamic trio called G.O.R.E. that hits you in the face with heavy metal with a whole lot of attitude. Right from the start one could imagine that this is some kind of power metal cause the demo starts with a high pitched scream but that’s not what this band is about. I could imagine that Pantera would be the main idol for this band. I’m not saying that this is a Pantera-copy but you can really hear the influence in there. Other bands like Machine Head and finnish Diablo come in mind. Especially the vocals remind me of the legendary finnish band Stone, which is not really a good thing in my opinion. Sounds like the singer can’t decide wheter to scream like a maniac or to sing in a melodic way. That’s the main area for this band to develop themselves. The riffs are mostly heavy palm muted riffs which lack a bit personality – there are too many parts that bring a strange déjà vu feeling. Otherwise there aren’t much to complain about. The sounds are really good and the band handles their instruments well enough. One more thing to complain about (since I like doing it so much): the last song is way way too long. Gimme a break, why stretch the song to 10 minutes when there’s nothing new to offer. OK job for a (first?) demo.
