John Davis and the Monster Orchestra
John Davis produced all of the songs for his Monster Orchestra which recorded
several great disco tracks in the late 1970's. Listen for "Night and
day" (a disco cover of the Cole Porter song), "You're the one",
"The magic is you", "Up jumped the devil" (a disco classic),
"Ain't that enough for you" and the fabulous "Disco fever".
We really love his brilliant disco version of the "Kojak theme". More
funky tracks include "You got to give it up" and "I've got the
hots for you". His album "The monster orchestra strikes again"
includes "Love magic" and his cover version of Ashford
& Simpson's "Bourgie', bourgie'".
"I can't stop / I get a kick" was the first 12" single
released on the Sam label in the US. There is also a UK-only 12" of
"Disco fever".
John also produced and wrote for many other disco groups, including:
Carol
Douglas ("Midnight love affair") Diana
Ross ("The Boss") Brenda
& the Tabulations ("I'm a superstar") Gary
Criss ("Rio de Janeiro") Fantasia
("Sweet city rhythm") Pattie
