Chapter Fifteen Notes

Laurel: This chapter is long and complex, yes, but I think it came out very well. ('Course, I do for most of my chapters at *first*--but ask me again a year from now, 'kay? *g*) All right, clarification time: First of all, the tunnel Maik and D'rai escaped through was made by D'rai--he did indeed escape from the labor area, pretty much unnoticed for the time being, managed to locate Maik's cell (he knows the jail complex better than Maik, and therefore would have a better idea as to where Maik'd been taken), and then turned into a burrowing animal, dug the tunnel, then shifted back to give Maik his instructions and create the hole.
Secondly, Ananda's upcoming chapters will bring in the characters Dirand and Rai. Though "D'rai" sounds like a combination of those two names, I actually made it up long before I knew of either of those names. D'rai is not meant in any way to be another form of them, nor they of him. Three completely different characters, 'kay?
Next up: If the final sentences of this chapter confused you, stick around--all will be revealed as the next few chapters unfold.
Oh, and on the off chance that anyone was wondering, or cares, D'rai's "last breakfast" was indeed fried reyder strips, though the drippings were unfortunately not made into sauce. *g*
