My grandfather bought this Chevy in 1953 in Houston Texas. I was 13 and remember it well. He died and left the car to me in 1975. I will pass this car on to my son when my time comes to graduate.
She is a 4 door, 210, sedan,
with some Belaire chrome pieces added for the extra shine. She was repainted in 1980 with paint
from Chevrolet, Surf Green, Duco 1555, and a white top. That makes the current paint job about
23 years old. The bumpers were
re-chromed at that time. She still
looks pretty good.
The entire interior was
redone in 1995, new carpet, seats, door panels, kick panels, rear package rack,
and head liner in two tone imitation leather, light green and dark green. I designed the interior
myself.
The 235 solid lifter engine
was replaced in the late 90’s with a 1962 Chevy truck engine (a re-built 235
with hydraulic lifters.) Also
changed to a 12 volt , dual point distributor system. She has a 53 Corvette manifold with
duals (long steel packs) that brings back the sounds of the 50’s. The duals greatly enhanced her
performance.
She runs very well and turns the heads when we take her cruising.
