This match had all the implications of a big battle. Nations fresh off a big trade, and the Cards reelling a bit getting their players back off of bye. Who was going to win? Nations had a huge free agent pickup of Derrick "Mookie" Blaylock this week. Blaylock, in the absence of Priest Holmes, ran for over 180 yards and racked up 30 points for Nations. New comer Aaron Brooks contributed 24, and TE Alge Crumpler had a huge day with 23 fantasy. For the Cards, Randy Moss missed his 3rd consecutive game with a bad hammy, and that did hurt them as Eric Moulds could only round up 4 fantasy replacing him in the lineup. The big question for the Cardinals however is what about Chris Brown? Brown coming off of a bye week was only managed 4 fantasy, as an apparent turf toe injury limited his time. This could end up being a huge game in the playoff race.

Lots of close games this week. Rose and Traut always battled in Ellensburg, and last Sunday was no different. A big morning by Rose saw Trent Green go for 20, Fred Taylor go for 19, and Curtis Martin go for 26...the only problem was that Traut's afternoon was just a bit bigger seeing Daunte bounce back with 38 and Ahman and newly acquired Kevan Barlow both end up with 17 fantasy. Ken Dilger was a huge suprise as he rattled in 11. What about Adam Vinatieri giving R a hope on Sunday night with a 18-spot. This game was huge for Traut to keep pace with Brooks, and equally large for Rose as he fell a .5 game back of the final playoff spot.

I say it again this week, there is not another team in this league as hot as the Redskins. This game had a huge lead in, as the two guards took the football field against eachother. These two could have been teammates back in the day, but squared off in a battle Sunday. Brooks went with the theory of letting the superstar score his, just stop everybody else. Manning had 43 for the Cowboys, but he was the only one in double digits as Edgerrin James was the next closest with 9. As for the 'skins, Dallas Clark was on the other end of those Manning passes, getting 28 fantasy, and Tiki ran nuts, again, getting 24 for Brooks. Brooks keeps his lead in his division, but the loss didn't hurt HR as TC and JR both lost.

The major concern in Oiler camp was whether or not the squad would gel after the deal that sent Aaron Brooks and Antonio Gates to the Lions for McNabb. I would say they were fine. In fact, McNabb was the big one on Monday night, getting 43 for the Oilers, but it was the 28 of Joe Horn on Sunday that sealed the deal for the Oilers. The Pack might have to be asking some questions as superstar WR's Marvin Harrison and Chad Johnson only combined for 10 fantasy. The win clinched the division for the Oilers, but didn't hurt the Pakcers as Tawes also lost.

The Battle of the Boys. A great duel between the Lake buddies, helped one out and hurt the other in the run for the playoffs. The story of Phil's week has to be TO and his 37 Monday Night points, but what about Duece showing up again with 21, and oh, hi Drew Bennett. Drew Who went for 26 fantasy Sunday afternoon. The Seahawks had a reciever who was equally impressive. Mushin Muhammad was unreal in his 3 TD, 36 fantasy game, but it wasn't enought as the combo of Matt Hasslebeck and Clinton Portis combined for 19 in the losing effort for the Seahawks.

No Priest for Tawes, and a zero from his replacement...that's a recipe that sounds like nothing but trouble, unless you are the Eagles. Taking advantage of a father-less Colts team, Pardee got great performances from Dommanick Davis and Javon Walker, scoring 26 and 16 respectively. On the other side of the ball, Tom Brady went for 18 on Sunday night, and Jimmy Smith 19. While the loss didn't really hurt Tawes, as Tommy lost, the win greatly benefitted Pardee as he pulled into a tie for the last playoff spot.

Randall Cunningham - 1998 |
Love going back and revisiting Mr. Randall Cunningham. Just when everybody thought he was done, he made a nice little run with the Vikings. In 1998, Randall threw for 3704 yards, 34 TD's and only 10 picks, while rushing for 132 and a touch. For those of you who can't add, that's an average of over 20 a week, but we all know there were some over 300 yard games and probably a few 40+ TD's.
