Game of the Week

Get out that horn...Game of the Week..HOOOOOORRRRRNNNNNN. Talk about back and forth all day, this one was unreal. In between household chores, I was able to catch the run that broke it open for the Oilers. That run was by DeShaun Foster, and it covered 74 yards. It put him over the 100 mark and set up a 3 yard TD run for the kid from UCLA, capping an unbelievable fantasy day that saw him rack up 26 points. The Oilers did have well rounded scoring as Aaron Brooks went for 25, Corey Dillon 18, Joe Horn 15, and John Carney 12. The Cardinals had a good day as well. Not easy putting up 81 and losing. The Packers hurt a bit as Favre only had 14, and Ahman only managed 15. Fantasy Rookie Chris Brown was the bright spot however as he managed 24 fantasy. A great day for the kid from Colorado. The soldier, Kellen Winslow II may have sustained a year ending leg injury which could leave the Cards scrambling for a TE.

Trying to prove a point, the Packers left Dante Culpepper on the bench for the second straight week. Marc Bulger did lead Tommy's team with 17, but I just don't see how you sit Culpepper. The RB crew in Portland showed their true colors as Will Green and Ty Wheatly combined for 7 fantasy. the Colts looked strong in power areas as Brady had 16, Priest had 13, and Hines Ward came through with 24. Question for the Colts though is the severity of the Todd Heap injury.

I loved this matchup. Two teams that you don't really count on being around late in the year based on years past, but going by this year...both appear to be favorites to advance a long way. The Niners were solid once again getting 20 from Pennington, 13 from a suprisine Eddie George and Derrick Mason,a s well as only 10 from Marshall Faulk. The Lions appear to be the real deal too. 21 from LT is a staple, but the 21 matched by Torry Holt shows he is indeed one of the top WR's in the league.

Just like a nice little battle on the card table, this one was back and forth all day Sunday. Late night switches of Barlow for Griffin, and Wayne for Javon Walker proved to be enough as the Eagles even things up to 1-1. How about 26 from Kevan Barlow, and 20 from Reggie Wayne on top of the 18 and 16 from McNair and Dom Davis respectively. The Cowboys were lead by the two headed monster of Peyton Manning (20) and Edgerrin James (27). Problem was those were the only two in double digits for the boys from Ranchero.

This was a very interesting match up to me. Two guys you really don't hear a lot from during the year, and two guys who some thought "stretched" a bit during draft night. Who's stretch was going to pay off? I think the fact of taking Mike Vick early in the 2nd turned out to be a better one than that of taking Duece McAllister as the #2 overall selection. 25 from Mike Vick as he rushed for over 100 yards. Jamal Lewis was back with 18. Phil was paced by the 24 of breakout performer Thomas Jones, but much thanks also to Jeff Garcia who put a 3 on the board. Brooks should have been panking Mike Tice all day Tuesday, becuase that was not a catch by TO. Ruled a catch, that play alone went for 13 fantasy, and gave Phil the win.

It hurts me to spend time writing any type of report on this game. This one was painful to look at, I can only imagine what it felt like to play. Are you happy scoring 40? I know your not scoring 30. Player of the game honors go to Clinton Portis who was responsible for 14 of TC's 40. Rose was paced by the 9 from Trent Green and 7 from Travis Henry. Wow.

Edgerrin James - 27 Fantasy
I would say the knee has healed
DeShaun Foster- 26 Fantasy
Inspired by the UCLA win Saturday
Kevan Barlow - 26 Fantasy
  Still don't like him.
Mike Vick - 25 Fantasy
  100 yards rushing!

Peerless Price - 1 Fantasy
Wishing he could be back in Buffalo
Tyrone Wheatley - 2 Fantasy
No wonder he didn't play for 10 years.
Fred Taylor - 5 Fantasy
Looks like Fred of 2 years ago.
Jeff Garcia - 3 Fantasy
0.0 QB Rating by the way

Steve Young - 1994

I think he is the worst one on GameDay in the mornings, but you have to respect what he did on the football field. He would have been unreal in USFL fantasy, but taking a look at the 1994 season, he was unreal. in 1994, Young passed for 3,969 yards and 35 TD's, while rushing for 293 yards and 7 TD's. it all translates to an average of 25 Fantasy points a game.
