  • Ruben Droughns - He took a week off, and is all ready to shine agains the Saints.
  • Anquan Boldin - Remember him? You will after this weekend.
  • LaDanian Tomlinson - If the groin is ready to go, we will see him hanging his nuts in Oakland.
  • Shaun Alexander - Must win for the Seahawks forces 30 carries for Shaun.

Let me take this time to reflect back upon the great time we had last Friday night at the Ranch.

Thanks for hosting us Harlan, it was some good times up there. It's always good times when:

  • I win a Madden Tourney
  • Harlan gets annoyingly drunk
  • Pardee takes everyone's money
  • I'm home before 2am

It would be nice to have a night like that every month...or atleast every other month. I know we wouldn't get every team involved, or even every team that is in this area, but it could be something we look at.

2-2-1 (35-14-1) - Evening out
College Hoops
Utah State (-5) @ GA Southern
No Friday night lights this weekend, so we take a look at the world of college basketball. In doing so, we find ourselves in big parka jacktes and igloos, that's right, we are heading up to the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks. Let's be honest, the only thing I know abou these two teams are that one is from Utah, and the other is from Georgia. Utah had a shorter plain ride, and is used to the cold weather.
Saturday-Rivalry
bonus Week
Florida (+7) @ Florida State
Showtime in Florida. Now this is a battle. Perfect timing as the last game of the year. The Seminole offense is horrible, we don't even know who is starting or playing the majority of time at quarterback. The Gators on the other hand are playing emotional football for head coach Ron Zook in what could be his final game, if Urban Meyer accepts the job before the upcoming bowl season. Take the Gators Straight up here!
UW (-11) @ WSU
I heard from somebody you don't bet with your heart, so I'm not going to. The Huskies did become the last team to successfully cover a game last weekend, but they are still the only team in America to complete under .500 of it's passes. With Casey Paus starting, things don't change. This game may be real ugly in more than one way. I don't like the Cougars, but I do thing the 'Cougs cover in this one. Take the team from Pullman -11 points.
Michigan (-5.5) @ Ohio State
Records and news stories don't matter. I will just throw that out there at you. This game will be an absolute battle. Home teams have a history of covering in this battle and it will happen again this week. The Maurice Clarrett thing is old news, and Michigan is primed for their traditional slip. Ohio State is all about making their season with a win in this game. Some important Wolverines have not experienced the Horseshoe before, take the Buckeyes in this one.
Oregon (+4) @ Oregon State
One team is getting better, one team is getting worse. I was backing the Ducks before they fell off the wagon last week against UCLA at home. Oregon State has won 4 of 6, and the winner of this game becomes bowl eligible. That will be enough as the Civil War goes to the guys from the South. Take the Reser Stadium Salsa's in this one. Beavers -4.
Louisiana Tech (+24) @ Boise State
The Broncos had a bit of a scare last week. There were two reasons for the scare. Reason number 1 was that the game was played at 9:00am local time, and Reason 2, the Spartans have the ability to throw the ball a little bit. If there is a way to attack Boise State, it is to throw the ball. Good news for Boise locals here, LTech can't throw the ball, and the game is at after lunch. Take the Broncos in a game that could end up 46-10.
BYU (+21.5) @ Utah
Lots of talk about the Utes head coach going to Florida, lots of talk about the Utes in the BCS...there isn't much talk of the Cougars beating the Utes is there? Well here you go, not only is 3 TD's a huge number in this old rivalry, we all know that things are just a bit different in the state of Utah. This could be my upset special of the week, just when all the hub-bub of the BCS and Utah getting into the top 6, they lose this weekend and problem is solved. I do like the Cougars to win the game, but, atleast cover the 21.5!
North Carolina (-5) @ Duke
Showtime. No this is not basketball, its football. odd. I had to throw this one up there though didn't I? I'm all about the Dukies in this one. The game is in Durham (real far from Chapel Hill), but I don't like the Tarheels. In general yes, but they have a horrible pass defense. A little rule for you guys out there, don't bet on a road team with a horrible pass defense. Take the Devils +5.
