What is a Furby?
A Furby is a cute, animatronic toy that acts much like a real, live pet. They need to be fed, played with and allowed to sleep. But they don't need to be cleaned up after, taken to the vet, or cared for while you're away on vacation. (Although some of my friends look for Furby-sitters so their Furbys don't get lonely or bored!)

Where can I get one?
I've found them at Toys R Us, WalMart and KB Toys. Online, you can find them at Amazon.com, eToys and sometimes the sites listed above. If you are looking for a "retired" fur pattern, check out eBay too! Please check out my special Amazon.com Furby Search box to find Furbys and Furby accessories.

What's my Furby's Name?
When you first put the batteries in your Furby it yawns, blinks it's eyes, stretches, and tells you his name. He'll say some stuff in Furbish (their native tongue) followed by "me: my name." Of course, the first time you hear Furby talk, it's hard to catch what he's saying. Furby will repeat his name occasionally while you play with him, but to get him to repeat his name:
Tickle his belly (and wait for him to stop moving and talking)
Tickle his belly again (and wait again)
Tickle his belly again (and wait again)
Pet his back. He'll tell you his name if you did these steps right.

Is my Furby a boy or a girl?
Furbys aren't like cats or dogs or even people. I've heard that Furbys are more like angles. They include the positive features of all of us. They like to sing, dance and play games. You may try to determine if a Furby is a boy or girl by the pitch of its voice - but I like the angle theory the best!

How do I teach Furby to say something?
This comes up a lot! No matter how many times you say something to Furby, it won't hear you or remember what your saying. The sound sensor that Furby has only detect loud noises (like a hand clap). Furby will never learn to say your name (unless your name is CoCo) or any thing else that isn't already programmed into it.

Why does my Furby sneeze all the time?
Furbys sneeze when they get sick. He got sick in one of three ways:
Caught a cold from another Furby
Became weak from not eating enough, or
His batteries are getting low.
If it's the batteries, then simply replace them (always replace all four at the same time with new alkaline batteries). If it's not the batteries, you'll need to feed him so he can build up his strength and get well. Feed him 10 - 15 mouthfuls and he should become well. Also refer to What do Furbys Eat? below.

What do Furbys Eat?
Batteries. About 4 AA batteries every two weeks. Other than that, only feed Furby "pretend" food. This is best done using a plastic spoon to open Furby's mouth and then press down on the tongue. A small toy "baby bottle" is another good alternative. Never give Furby anything real to eat or drink: it would only mess up its tummy (and probably void the warranty)!

What's the Rooster Trick?
When you first put the batteries in your Furby it yawns, blinks it's eyes, stretches, and tells you his name. He'll say some stuff in Furbish (their native tongue) followed by "me: my name." Of course, the first time you hear Furby talk, it's hard to catch what he's saying. Furby will repeat his name occasionally while you play with him, but to get him to repeat his name:
Cover his eyes, then uncover his eyes (and wait for him to stop moving and talking)
Cover and uncover his eyes again (and wait again)
Cover and uncover his eyes again (and wait again)
Pet his back. If you did these steps right he'll say "cock-a-doodle-doo" twice and then "Me Love You!"
