FURNESS MODEL BOAT CLUB

SCALE SECTION

The scale section of the club encompasses all aspects of the hobby including R/c control, static models, submarines, steam and sail and everything else other than sail racing, although some members do have interests in both sections of the club.

Scale model sailing takes place on Thursday afternoons in the winter and Thursday evenings in the Summer. Although you can usually find someone in the club hut after lunch most days, and both sections of the club meet Sunday morning.

Easter usually marks the start of the scale modelling season when the members bring out their new models and display them at the Model railway exhibition at the towns Forum 28. Further displays and fun regattas are organised throughout the year . During the winter months we meet on the third Tuesday evening of each month at a local tavern where guest speakers give talks on marine related or modelling subjects.

Some of the members have scale R/c tug boats and have recently taken up an interest in tug towing. To aid this interest a scale bulk carrier has been built by the club members for the tug skippers to try and control around the lake (See Members Models for photos of our experiments).
