In Fashion

by Oren the Otter

Marna had always been at the center of the fashion world. She always wore the hottest clothes, never more than a week out of date. She had the money to spend, and she made sure everyone knew it.
Whenever Marna met a girl less stylish than herself, she'd rub the girl's nose in it with comments like "Couldn't quite make the blue-light special, could you?"
Marna knew that she hurt others, but she didn't care. It was her birthright as the most popular and attractive girl in school to enjoy being above the commoner.
Besides... someone had to show the unfashionable the error of their ways, right?
Then one day, the bizarre happened. A transformation parlor opened in town.
Nerdy Sleila Jackson was the first to get it done. When she showed up at school as a cat, all of the boys oohed and ahed. They just adored her fur, and her tail was out of this world.
Other girls followed. Soon the school was full of cats and foxes and raccoons and fenecs.
Of course, Marna couldn't let her place as fashion queen be challenged, so she scraped up what was left of her money (it had dwindled over the years from her shopping sprees) and went to the transformation parlor.
When asked what she wanted to be, Marna only replied "Just make sure I have the biggest, fluffiest tail there is!"
The attendant shrugged and ushered her into a waiting transformation chamber.
To make the transformation as safe as possible, Marna was placed in a tight force field which did not permit her to move. Yet as the transformation progressed, she could feel herself getting furrier and furrier. Best of all, she could feel her tail against her legs, and it was soft and luxurious. She was going to be gorgeous.
When at last she was permitted to move, Marna rose in a wobbly fashion to all fours. That was when she noticed the really odd smell.
The attendant rushed in when he heard the scream. He found Marna standing there staring at the wall mirror, seemingly horrified that she had been turned into a skunk.
"CHANGE ME BACK!" Marna shouted.
"I'm afraid that's impossible." was the answer. "A second transformation so soon would kill you."
The end result is that a visitors to Marna's room will find a fluffy little skunk with an unbelieveably floofy tail sitting on the bed jibbering like a lunatic.
