Why to raise rabbits?
That is
a question we often ask ourselves. We ask it when it's 5 in the
morning, we are rushing to take
care of the rabbits before school, and then
you miss the bus. Is it worth
it? Is it worth crying for days when your
Floppy dies or paying $200 a month
for food?
If you didn't
have your rabbits anymore would you miss those cuddly
faces reaching through the cages
to get food at 5 in the morning; would you
miss the joys of seeing Floppy
first open his eyes, take his first hop, or
winning his blue ribbon?
Does the smile on a little kid or an elderly lady's
face at the petting zoo add up
to all the bill for feeding that loving
creature?
If you had to
measure the good versus the bad things your rabbit has
done would it become equal?
Does begging to be petted beat out a small
bite? Does running when you
come into the room win over a chewed wire?
If you truly
love your rabbits you would see that no matter how much
it cost or how many times you had
to change your shirt because of rabbit
mess the good would win.
A rabbit is a creature that relies completely and
totally on you, the owner.
You choose whether it will live or die, eat or
not.
I hope that
when you hop into your rabbit barn at 5 in the morning you
come out smiling no matter how
late you are and you are just happy that we
are blessed with the never-ending
love we call the rabbit.
