No longer able to easily obtain rare herbs from the Fallen Land, Nizar Bloodbound - in his infinite wisdom - had commanded his ever-faithful Deathseeker servant, Allada Mouson, and his infamously less faithful servant, Kharime af'Weet, to scour the land in search of new sources.
Naturally, Kharime af'Weet has his own ambitions and has brought along Baba Ali, who sold the services of herself and six generations of her family to Kharime for a sum neither has ever disclosed. Allada Mouson has additional orders to keep Kharime in line and watch for any opportunity to advance the cause of his Emperor. He also has servants of his own, craftily tricked into binding contracts of both dubious loyalty and legality: Ra'at Sadfred (whose regiment have renamed themselves the Uninsulted, for they feel they serve the Emperor directly) and Cister of the Mer Sea (leading his team of crack Imperial tax collectors).
The stars have lead Kharime to an oasis in the middle of the Plain of Bones, miraculously untouched by the devastation around it. Surely, this must be a place of power and of great use to both him and the Emperor. ...unfortunately, those very same stars appear to have led the accursed Elves to the very same spot! Worse yet, it seems the Ice Witches have begun to make overt moves for power - out of the entire devious race, the Witches are the true mistresses of manipulation.. maybe even better than Allada Mouson!
