The following campground pictures are from Bull Run Regional
Park..
This was the spot I
was camped at. As you can see, this pull-thru site is just a semi circle as are
all the pull through sites. There is a furnished grill for charcoal cooking
along with the obligatory picnic table. These sites only have electricity.
There is a dump and fresh water fill up right in front of the campground office
so those arriving with low water tanks can fill up there before parking their
rig.
All
the pullthrough sites are like this.. just semi-circle's off the
road..
Below is just one
of the many deer we saw at the campground. They are fairly tame and you can get
quite close to them before they run off.
Below is another
one that I missed a good picture of as it stood in the road waiting for me to
get the camera out and then took off before I could snap a good one of it...
Below is a sign showing the more than 20 miles of hiking and horse trails
throughout Bull Run Regional Park..This is a BIG PARK !
!
One of the many bridges spanning a small stream at the head
of the foot trail..
Map showing the general location of the C.G. and its
location in respect to Wallmart and Camping World.
The cost is a reasonable $15.00 a night for such a nice park
and is only about 1/2 hour from Washington D.C. via I-66.. The campground is
not accessible directly from the Interstate so you will have to consult your
map to see what exit to get off on to get to route 29 which is just north of
the interstate. The Entrance to the Bull Run Campground is off of route SSR 621
and the sign's pointing the way are clearly marked. If you need to camp near
D.C., then I can recommend this as a good stop. Reservations were not necessary
by the way.... Just watch out for the deer,, especially at night
..
