All About Fuzzy
Fuzzy was born in Taylor Texas December 9th 1951 and moved to Mexia Texas
three months later. A second-generation musician, his father Fuzzy Sr. made
sure there was no lack of music around the house.  His first musical
influence was his father and all the guys he played with.  Growing up in
Mexia, a hotbed for nightclubs, he was exposed to many different styles.
But it was the blues that moved him. His father owned several clubs.  One
of them was the 84 Club.  It was an all black club on the "Chittlin
Circuit" that seated around 400 people. Being there most days during his
preschool years and afternoons after he started school, he heard some great
blues from some of the best of that time (1956-1964.)  It influenced him
from that point on.
Fuzzy started off playing drums at age 5. He would play during band breaks with his father, and people would throw change on the bandstand.  Then and there he knew this was the life for him!  When he was 10 he started playing after school and weekends with Carrie Jones (a local blues piano player) at a juke joint named the Hilltop.  After that he played with various local bands. At the age of 16 he started playing with a rock band in Corsicana. About that time he started getting interested in guitar, and met his wife Mary.   They got married a couple of years later. To make a living he started playing with country bands, playing steel guitar and working the road with name acts.  After two decades of playing with really great country acts he decided to go back to his roots, the music he loved most, The Blues.
Fuzzy started playing at Dallas blues jams and met Tyrone Starks.  Along with lifelong friend Jerry Hancock, and Tyrone he put together "Texas Weather", a rock edged blues band. While playing with Texas Weather many great blues men would come out and sit in (Sam Myers, Hashbrown, Mike Morgan, etc.) this was really a great learning experience. After Texas Weather he put together the "Fuzzy Whitener Band" and put out his first CD, "Hard Luck and Trouble". His next release "Off The Chain" was released in August 2002. If you love the Blues do yourself a favor and catch him live or check out his CD, his touch, and his tone.  His choice of what to and what not to play is masterful.  I am sure you will want to add his music to your collection of Blues Greats!!
