Installation Instructions.

This file in named [ README.txt ] in the folder where you install NPED.

Remember by installing this software you are agreeing to the following terms.

implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.  I assume no liability for any
alleged or actual damages arising from the use of this program.  In choosing to use this program you agree
to free the author ( Frank G. Varro ) and all of my representatives from all such responsibilities.
In addition
    * You can download this program for your personal use.
    * You cannot distribute this program by any means to other individuals or entities.
    * You cannot incorporate this program or it's output in other products by any means.
This means you will not sue me or anyone else for problems caused by the software.

Step 1.
Download NPED.zip from the web site.

Step 2.
Create a folder to hold the application.
I strongly recommend C:\NPED.

Step 3.
Unzip all of the files in your downloaded file [ NPED.zip ] into the directory created in Step 2.

Step 4.
Open this file [ README.txt ] to see these instructions without being connected to the web.

Step 5.
Locate WordPad.exe on your computer.  Copy WordPad.exe into the folder with the software.
This is the target folder in step 3 and the target of the unzip in step 4.

Step 6.
Install Crystal font.  Follow the instructions in Windows Help.
The font file is Crysrg__.ttf in the application directory.

Step 7.
If you have COI (coefficient of inbreeding ) installed open the file COIpath.txt in your application
directory and be sure it points to the folder containing the COI program.  Use WordPad.
The default is [ C:\COI\ ].
Be sure your path ends with a backslash.

If you do not have COI installed rename the file coiwrite.exe to coiwrite.sav
See FAQ #10. "I do not have COI installed on my computer."

Step 8.
If you did not install COI into C:\NPED modify the 2 shortcuts [ NPED AllApps ] and [ NPED Limited ] 
directory entries.   See FAQ #5. "How do I change the directory entry in the shortcuts?".
Change both shortcuts.

Step 9.
Copy the shortcut [ NPED AllApps ] and [ NPED Limited ] to your desktop.

Step 10.
Click the [NPED AllApps] to begin running NPED.
If you installed the program into C:\NPED to step 11.

If you installed the program into a directory other than C:\NPED open the FAQs to 
question #4 "How do I change the path of the database in NPED" and follow the instructions to change
the path Name.  Press [ NPED AllApps ] on the start bar to make the application appear over the FAQ.

Step 11.
Open the FAQ's to Question #2. "How do I enter my Name and Address in NPED".
Press [ NPED AllApps ] on the start bar to make the application visible over the FAQ.
Change the Name & Address to your Name and Address using the information in the FAQ.

You are know running the application.
To exit the application press the ESC (escape key) until you see the message
[ Do you really want to Exit ] and then press the [ Y } key.

This may be a good time to remove NPED.zip from your computer.

Note:  Part of the insulation loaded the FAQs into the FAQ folder in the Application folder.
Click on the file index.html in the folder FAQs to display the FAQs without opening you web connection.

Note:  Do not ask for support unless you have researched the online FAQs.
