My ideas on a tool kit and parts for my K75 G/S special.

How to decide on a tool kit?
The tools you need are those that will keep you mobile for
minor repairs, trip maintenance items and enable adjustments that may become necessary.
The minor adjustments are typically
- cable (throttle, clutch, choke)
- handle bar and leavers
- mirrors
- foot pegs and foot controls
- headlight aim
- Clutch play
- valve clearance
- Fuel mixture
- idle speed
- ignition timing (you may get pinging, and should be able to
retard a little without timing light)
Minor repairs
- Flat tyres (remove wheel, tube from tyre)
- Broken cables
- Topping up oil levels (and coolant if you have that)
- Removing fuel injectors
- Tightening loose fasteners
Replacement of
- globes
- fuel filter
- air filter
- engine oil
- Spark plugs
- brake pads
- blinker
- water pump seal
- battery
My trips may last over a month in remote locations so replacing the above may be required.
Additionally some tools may be required that are specials for things like bearings
that can be purchased at major centres but the tools may be hard to come by.
The tools should be good quality and you should use them for the
regular maintenance on the bike. While ratchet drives and sockets
may speed servicing they may also mean that parts are fastened
over the torque that you can apply with the bikes tool kit.
Specialist tools may be required for unusual tasks any tools
that you need on a regular basis should be included in your tool
kit.

The following is a list of allen heads found on my bike from the
most frequently occurring to the least?

A list of tools.
- ring spanners
- open end spanners
- tube spanners
- 3/8 sockets - with bar
- hex spanners, ball end
- pliers
- screwdriver - combination
- hook wrench - rear suspension
- tyre leavers
- puncture repair outfit including air pump
- specials - 27 thin walled socket for swing arm lock nut
- special - front wheel nut 3
- steering head lock nut 36mm
- butane soldering iron
- Digital MutiNeer
Some of the spanner sizes may be modified by replacing or
modifying the nuts and bolts on the bike to reduce the range of
sizes required. The replacement of hex head bolts by allen key
bolt heads may lead to a significant reduction.
What parts to take?
The parts that are easy and quick to replace, no likely to be
readily available, probably will fail, if they fail will stop
your journey.
The parts that are difficult to replace, heavy or unlikely to
stop your journey can be sent to you.
The ones difficult to replace can be dismantle as you wait for
the new parts. Things like gear box bearings that require presses
may be better shipped as the hole gear box, a quicker replacement
with more cost but no special tools or presses required. Send the
old parts back for repair.
