I really like the song Pug. It's one of my favorites off Adore. The music is kind of eerie, but in a really neato sort of way. But, the thing that made me fall in love with the song was the opening few line "kiss and kill me sweetly....." I just really love the lyrics.

For Martha is such a moving song, it means such alot to me...I think that after 'Daphne..'it's my fave.

Pug is also a good track and I like the darkness of it,but I'm not to sure about it when the song shifts to a lighter note....hmmm

For Martha and Pug are my two favorite songs on the disc. Pug reminds me of some of their earlier stuff, and For Martha's beautiful guitar solo makes me weep.

It strikes me that I could sit around analyzing SP songs all day long if I wanted to. =0) But, I don't have the time for that, so, I decided to comment on this one. Well, yeah, I think this must be about BC & how he feels about himself. Or so I think....anyhow, he apparently, in my mind, is singing about how he is the clay & the other person is the pug machine, to mold him & shape him. I don't really think it has anything to do with Pug the breed of dog...it has more hidden meaning than that. "Inside, where it's warm, wrap myself in two" denotes this because a pug machine for reshaping clay is rather warm, & clay does get wrapped around a bit there, & "Outside, where I'm torn, fight myself in two" would denote that outside, in the world, the clay gets torn in two by it's shapers, in this case other people, the outside world. He feels he can only be his true self & trusts this pug machine person....I would imagine this is Yelena. This person centers him & ma!

kes him whole, "outside, where I'm torn, fight myself in two, into you" the only thing that makes him & saves him from the world is this person, he keeps running back to them to save himself.

Well, me being a nerd and having my pocket dictionary with me, I just looked pug up and it means a "dog of dwarf breed with broad flat nose and wrinkled face. pug-nosed: having short flattish nose."

Maybe that's how billy sees himself? - low opinion, no self confidence - that he'll give himself ("i am yours alone") to who he can get or will take him, rain and all.

When he's with the person he feels loved ("inside where it's warm") and when he's rejected he feels torn, but still decides he can't live without this person (fight my self in two...into you).

When BC starts singing please don't change, he's scared that if the person does then she will drop him even though she manipulates him (desire me so deeply, drain and kick me hard) - also maybe he likes feeling pain otherwise it wouldn't seem like love? maybe not. He'll always be hers "looking for a kiss kiss".

The idea of being reshaped is pretty valid (pug-machine). Perhaps he is changing himself so he doesn't lose this person - that he'll do anything for her not to leave. He knows it's wrong but he's in love and will always be back for more (fight myself in two into you).

Does anyone think pug being a breed of dog links to annie dog? - if pug reperesents BC then annie dog must be his perfect partner? (her daimond curse, it comes with mine). But the tables are turned (mine mine you were always mine, possessed by my taste). Also annie dog seems to be controlled (upon her face we leave no trace).

"pulls her trash..." if comparing it to pug, could mean her "rain" but since billy is more in control, devalues it to something less important by calling her problems trash.

And more: "to disappear in her" - "wrap myself in you"
