Summary: Ah, those three little words...how sweet
they are! And Angel has plans...heh heh heh.
Rating: PG-13
Author's Note: This part has an actual musical scene
in the beginning with the song Itsy-Bitsy Teeny-Weeny
Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini (originaly performed by Bobby Vinton.)
It will help with the imagery if you have or can get a copy of
the song. It's one of those things you'll have to really use
your imagination for. Just picture everyone dancing around
Lewis and harmonizing and all that.
Oh, and there's a line about a Dog-Faced Boy and Mimi
responding to it that I'm almost positive I've heard in an actual
DCS ep. but I can't remember! I just don't want to take credit
where it isn't due! Actually, the whole musical scene seems
terribly familiar to me too...hmm...Well, anyway, enjoy!

Part 4 - I Knew I Loved You
By Ruth (fxnoir@aol.com)
Saturday
7:00pm
The Warsaw
Drew, Lewis and Oswald were all sitting around "their"
table at the Warsaw discussing their week.
"That's right," said Oswald.
"You mean..." Lewis left the thought unfinished.
"She answered the door completely topless!" said Oswald
with a giant smile. Lewis and Drew sat with their mouths hanging
open. "Turns out she's part of this group of women who think they
should be able to walk around shirtless like guys!"
"Oh man," said Drew. "That's a cause I totally support!" He
raised his beer mug and they all toasted.
"Yeah, but that sort of thing always back fires," said Lewis as
he sipped his beer.
"Whaddya mean?" asked Oswald.
"Well, say they pass the law. Now a bunch of women start
walking around topless," Lewis began. Drew and Oswald nodded
and smiled.
"And the bad part about this is...?" said Drew.
"Think about it," Lewis said. "Sure, there'll be plenty of
beautiful, topless women but there'll also be plenty of women who
aren't so beautiful."
"Oh, yeah," said Drew. At that moment, Mimi walked in and
seated herself at the bar.
"Case in point," Lewis said gesturing in her direction. Drew and
Oswald shivered.
"Ok, Ok!" said Drew. "I get it! Just promise you'll never make me
conjure up that picture in my head ever again!"
"Yeah, but maybe we should look at it from their point of view,"
said Oswald.
"What's that?" asked Drew.
"They've all been forced to look at *us* without shirts on." Drew
and Lewis nodded in agreement.
"Well, then," said Lewis, holding up his beer mug, "to shirts!"
"To shirts!" Drew and Oswald said in unison. They all clinked
glasses and took a drink.
"Hi, guys!" said Kate who had just walked in. Mr. Wick was
close behind her.
"Mr. Wick? What are you doing here?" asked Drew.
"I ran into him in the parking lot," said Kate. "He insisted on
tagging along." Kate rolled her eyes and pulled up a chair. Mr. Wick
grabbed one for himself and sat as well.
"Yes," said Mr. Wick, "I thought I'd come in and 'hang out with
the guys' as it's called. So for tonight call me Nigel!"
"All right, Nigel," said Drew.
"Except for you, Carey," Nigel added.
"Sorry, Mr. Wick," said Drew, a look of defeat on his face. Kate
flagged a waitress and ordered a couple pitchers of beer. She turned
to Lewis.
"So, Lewis, what did you and Angel do today? I thought she
mentioned something about you guys getting some sun this weekend."
she said.
Lewis finished off his beer before answering. "We went to the
beach," he said finally.
"Oh, yeah?" said Nigel. "What did she wear?" Everyone stared
at Nigel. "What? I'm just curious!" he said with a mischievious smirk.
"Well, she *did* buy this new bathingsuit," Lewis said with a smile.
"Oh do tell," said Nigel with the same look. Lewis gave him a
strange look.
"No, I don't think - " Lewis started to say.
"Oh c'mon! Just tell us! C'mon Lewis!" Drew, Oswald and Nigel
were all saying at the same time.
"You guys!" said Kate. "What's the matter with you? He's trying
to be a gentleman! It's Ok, Lewis. You don't have to talk about it."
"No, it's not that," said Lewis. "It's that I don't think I know how to start."
"Start by telling us about this new bathing suit!" said Nigel.
"Well, she was feeling really self-conscious about it. I don't know
why. She looks great in anything."
"Yeah, she's got a great bod!" said Oswald. Lewis turned and
stared at him. "Not...that I've noticed or anything."
"Anyway, I didn't think I'd be able to get her out on the beach at all - "
"Yeah, yeah," said Drew. "Just tell us what she wore!"
"Well..."
(cue music here)
Lewis (singing): "It was an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny yellow polka dot bikini,
that she wore for the first time today."
An itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny yellow polka-dot bikini,
so in the locker she wanted to stay."
Nigel: "2, 3, 4 come on Lewis, tell us more!"
People in the bar: "Ba ba ba ba ba-dup ba ba ba ba..."
Lewis (singing): "She was afraid to come out in the open,"
Oswald, Nigel, Kate, Drew (singing): "Ba da dup!"

Oswald: "2, 3, 4 come on, Lewis, tell us more!"
Added instrumental portion to allow for dancing...

Oswald, Nigel, Kate, Drew (singing): "Ba da dup!"
Lewis (singing): "Now she's afraid to come out of the water,"
Oswald, Nigel, Kate, Drew (singing): "Ba da dup!"

Lewis, Oswald, Drew, Kate, Nigel (singing):
"It was an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny yellow polka-dot bikini,"
Lewis (singing):" that she wore for the first time today."
Lewis, Oswald, Drew, Kate, Nigel (singing):
"An itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny yellow polka-dot bikini,"
Lewis (singing): "so in the water she wanted to stay."
Oswald, Nigel, Kate, Drew (singing): "From the locker to the blanket,
from the blanket to the shore,
from the shore to the water..."
Lewis (singing): "...I guess there isn't any more!"
(end musical scene)
Everyone was sitting back at the table. Mimi approached
from the bar.
"Well isn't this a cozy little bunch?" Mimi said with her
usual dripping sarcasm.
"What are you doing here, Mimi?" asked Drew. "Shouldn't
you be home scaring the baby?"
"Not that it's any of your business, Pig, but Steve said I
deserved a night out to myself so he's home baby sittin' so
I could meet some friends here."
"Really?" said Drew. "You have friends?"
"Yeah, Drew," said Lewis, "circus folk really stick together."
"You outta know, Freak," Mimi came back with. Lewis
gave her a "whatever!" face.
"Mimi," Kate began, "why do you have to be so mean to
everyone all the time?"
"Hey, I just calls 'em like I sees 'em. And my friends are
here, so if you'll excuse me."
"Say hello to the Dog-Faced Boy for me!" Oswald yelled after
Mimi as she turned to leave. Mimi stopped and turned back to
Oswald. She was about to say something but changed her mind.
"No, that's just too easy," she said and turned back in the
direction of her friends.
"What'd she mean by that?" asked Oswald. At that moment
Angel walked up to the table.
"Hey, everyone!" she said. Everyone said their "hellos" back.
Angel crammed in at the table between Lewis and Oswald.
"So *this* is Angel," said Nigel. "My, what a lovely creature
you are," he purred.
"Back off, Wick," said Lewis, sparks jumping in his eyes.
Angel put her hand on Lewis' arm. She was always flattered when
he became protective but she preferred to take care of herself.
"Lewis..." she said softly. The sound of her voice immediately
calmed the fire threatening to grow behind Lewis' eyes. "It's nice
to meet you, Mr. Wick," Angel said as she held out her hand. Nigel
took it and kissed the back.
"Enchante," he said. Lewis took Angel's hand from Nigel.
"That'll be enough of that," Lewis said.
"I'm only being friendly," said Nigel.
"Too friendly," said Lewis, the sparks beginning to return.
"What's the matter, Lewis, afraid of a little competition?" asked Nigel.
"Guys, come on!" said Drew. They ignored him.
"Hardly," said Lewis, his impatience growing. "I just don't like
it when people hit on the woman I love right in front of me as if I
weren't even here!" Everyone froze in place, Kate in mid swallow of
her beer, Drew setting his mug back onto the table and Oswald
reaching for his mug. Nigel just cocked his head to one side. Angel
had been flagging the waitress. Lewis looked like a deer caught in
headlights. Everyone stayed in their positions for a few seconds.
Angel was the only one who finally moved. She turned to Lewis.
"What did you just say?" she asked quietly. The question seemed
to put everyone else back into motion.
"I said...I said," Lewis stammered, "...I said I don't like it when
people hit on my girlfriend in front of me." He sat giving sideways
glances at Angel, hoping she'd actually believe that.
"I don't think that's *quite* what you said," Angel said.
"Oh, will you look at that?" Kate suddenly said. "We're always
running out of cocktail napkins! Let's all go get some!" The hint
wasn't lost on Oswald this time. He got up with the everyone else
and headed towards the bar. Half way there, Kate noticed Nigel
was still sitting at the table. She went back for him.
"Nigel!" she whispered when she was next to him. "I think we
should give them a minute!"
"Quiet, O'Brien! I want to hear this!" was his response.
"Will you get over here!" Kate said, physically grabbing him by
the arm and hauling him away.
"I love it when you're rough with me, O'Brien," Nigel said seductively.
Kate pushed him in the direction of the bar.
"Augh! Just get over there!" she yelled.
Lewis was looking down, not knowing exactly what to say. This
wasn't the time or place he had wanted to spring that bit of information
on her.
"Lewis?" Angel's voice broke into his thoughts. He looked up at her
and sighed. His shoulders slumped.
"That's really not how I wanted you to find out I'm in love with you," he said.
"So you really are?" Angel asked. Lewis thought he heard a
twinge of hope in her voice. He nodded.
"Yeah. I am," he said quietly. "I have been since the moment I
saw you." Lewis and Angel just stared at eachother for a moment.
"I love you too," Angel finally said. They stared at eachother a
few more seconds and then began chuckling. Lewis leaned over
and kissed Angel softly.
"I didn't think you were gonna say it for a minute," he admitted.
Angel just smiled.
"Well, we've only been dating a month. I know how slow you've
been wanting to take things so I wasn't sure I should. But I just had
to," Angel said with a grin. Lewis smiled back and ran a finger down
her cheek. "And speaking of taking things slow, Lewis," she began,
"there's one more little thing I think I've waited long enough for."
There was a fire now in Angel's eyes but it was quite different from
Lewis' earlier. Lewis was about to say something when everyone
returned to the table.
"So how's everything going?" Kate asked.
"Just fine," replied Lewis. "Perfect as a matter of fact."
"Good," said Kate. Oswald returned to the table with a
HUGE stack of cocktail napkins. The rest of the table gave him
an odd look.
"What?" he said. "I'm sick of running out of cocktail napkins!
Everytime something interesting is about to happen we're suddenly
out of cocktail napkins! Well, there goes *that* excuse from now on!"
Lewis chuckled a little and then turned his attention back to Angel.
"What were we talking about a minute ago?" he said to her.
"It's nothing," Angel replied with a shake of her head.
"You're sure?"
"Yeah. We'll talk about it later," Angel said. As Lewis turned back
to the rest of the table Angel reached over, under the table and grabbed
Lewis between the legs, hoping he'd take the hint. An odd, high-pitched
noise came out of him that no one had ever heard before. Angel removed
her hand and sat back with a smirk.
"You all right?" Drew asked.
"Yes," said Lewis, bewildered. "I'm fine. Thank you. How are you?"
Drew looked at Lewis as if he had lost all his senses.
"Okaaaaaay," said Drew. Lewis gave a sideways glance at Angel.
He wasn't taking the bait.
"I'll be right back you guys," said Kate. "I've gotta go use the
bathroom."
"You can go use ours, Kate," said Oswald. "The door's unlocked."
Kate looked disturbed by the very thought.
"That's OK," she said. "The public restroom is a lot cleaner."
"You guys leave your door unlocked?" Angel asked.
"Not usually," replied Lewis. "Neither of us felt like looking for
our keys." Angel nodded. A plan began forming in her mind.
"Unlocked door, huh?" she thought. "That's perfect." She looked
at Lewis and smiled. "Tonight, Love Of My Life," she continued thinking,
"tonight this relationship goes to the next level."
"What are you smiling about?" Lewis asked, curious.
"Nothing," Angel said, the smile growing bigger. "Just how lucky
I am. And all the surprises in store for us." Lewis smiled back and
gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"I like surprises!" he said.
"Good," Angel thought to herself. "Very good."
