It is very interesting to know that a person who is a Pharmacist acts like an allrounder in the field of medical sciences. He is the only one who is needed by the doctors and that is why they give him their valuable time in order to share informations regarding the latest research proceedings in the production of drugs. Furthermore the Pharmacist assists and counsels the doctors about the proper usage of drugs and updates their knowledge about clincal uses and the pharmacokinetics.
It is another matter that some doctors have outrageous behaviour for Pharmacist and consequently some Pharmacist pay them back in the same coin. So it is natural to exploit someone to achieve vested interests.
Now When a "hakeem" (a Unani Doctor) percieves prescription of a doctor then he traveses it, and such is the way a doctor behaves with a prescription of hakeems. Conversely a pharmacist tries at his best level to assist and counsel both of them. The reason is that Pharmacy is a wide field in which Pharmacognosy is a major subject and is more than 90% concerned with the same theories and ways followed by hakeems. That means, a professional Pharmacist must be equiped with Pharmacognosy so that while sharing his ideas with hakeems, he can satisfy them; and that medical science encourages hikmat and hakeems.
But while discussing this thing, it is also a fact that hakeems also neglect Pharmacits. A Pharmacist takes keen interest in the chemical constituents in the remedies of hakeems and also tries to shape these remedies into drugs but it has been an instinct of hakeems to hide the formulae and methods of his remedies. He even doesnot disclose these to his family members and disciples, so how he will show these to a Pharmacist.
Due to the lack of co-operation and sincerity on behalf of hakeems, people enjoy less services from them. As an example, there are a few herbal drugs one can find in the market.
According to Pharmacists, these herbal drugs are nothing but aphrodisiac which contain sufficient cortisones and iron; and that may push users to kidney diseases. On the other hand a Pharmacist plays a vital role in the field of health. He not only prepares the medicines but also makes it available in the market. he serves selflessly and only expect rewards from THE HEAVEN.
It is regretful that higher authorities concerned with the field does not put checks and ban on the drugs and remedies which are being sold illegally and freely in the market without registration. It is not more than a foul play of the concerned authorities that harms the lives of innocent people.
On other hand, if the drugs and remedies have good quality and relief, they must ve tested and examined through the prescribed processes of Pharmacy. They may come in market under proper rules and regulations, and through a fair play.
Being a Pharmacist the composition and sale of herbal drugs shocks me because it harms the health of people.It is said that "health is wealth" but it has become a riddle for me that either health is wealth or "Wealth is Health" ?
