You should tidy and purify the space (using incense) before you cast the circle. Casting a circle stops any bad influences from affecting yuor magic, and gives you an area to concentrate your magickal abilities. How do I do it? First you need to mark the circle out. You could use string, salt, or whatever you want! The best size for the circle is about 3 metres in diameter but if you don't have enough space it can be smaller, and if you're doing a spell with a few other people, make it bigger (although unless you have a very big bedroom, you lucky person, you'' need to go outside to do this). Next you need to mark off North, South, East and West. Unless you know this you'll need either a very accurate map showing your house and the direction of North, or a compass. These four directions each have their own element: North= earth, green or brown candle; East= air, blue candle; South= fire; red or orange candle; West= water, blue candle. You could also use any object that represents each of the elements (a feather or incense for air, a pot of soil or a crystal for earth, etc) |
You should have an alter (you can use a table with a white cloth on) should be as close to the centre as possible, and anything you'll need for the spell should be layed out on top of it (or near it)... then take your wand (a twig from an apple tree will do) and trace the outline of the circle in the air, three times. Focuss on blocking out any unwanted influences on your spells. As you face each direction say, "God, Goddess, and guardians of the (direction you're facing). Powers of (the element it represents), I call you to attend my circle. Now you're ready to begin your spell. |
