Astrology - Science or Superstition?
Many developments have been achieved in Science and Technology but the one thing that has remained the same from the very time of Aristotle is astrology. - Pradip
Some people believe astrology is simply a superstition and scientists declare it is unscientific. However, others defend astrology by pointing out that, in many cases, it works. I am the same myself. I think it is foolish, but I often happen to believe in it. - Subita
People are mostly in a state of confusion and show dual behaviour when dealing with the future and fortune telling. I sometimes believe in astrology simply to make myself comfortable. - Rabindra
Astrology is nonsense for modern boys and girls like us. - Chandra
Do you believe in horoscopes? If you answer “Yes”, then your friends might say “So stupid!”, which you don’t want to hear. If you say “No”, you know you believe it even though you deny it. - Arpana
No matter what others think, I do believe in astrology. - Phalita
I never believed in astrology until an astrologer reviewed my past as if someone played back a video tape. But it depends upon the fortune-teller and his qualification. - Ajit
A horoscope is the forecast of a person’s future life based on the diagram showing the relative position of the planets and stars at the time of birth. - Shankar
I’ve never known what my star sign is. I’ve never gone through any Zodiac Star Guide and never have I wasted my time going through horoscopes in the newspapers. It’s not at all sensible or logical to say that it’s the position of stars and planets that determines our character. I don’t find it worth believing. - Bhim
I’ve always considered astrology to be a very intellectual idea. It is really sensible and logical. - Bidur
The calculations carried out for solar and lunar eclipses, tides, appearances of comets and stars seem to be quite reliable. I believe in the calculations but strongly oppose the views regarding fortunes and horoscopes. - Suraj KC
The calculations with stars is just one of the ancient techniques of finding the probability factor and, of course, pieces of rock flying in space don’t influence our character. - Prakash
Astrology is all probability, just like thermodynamic probability. We can conclude that astrology is a science of probability and we are searching for our future within the probability limit. - Bishwo
Thousands of people share a common pattern of the stars and planets at the time of their birth. This doesn’t necessarily mean that all these people would live similar lives. This is where the effectiveness of astrology meets a dead end. - Sajal
How can the people of this whole world be divided into only twelve groups? Among the same group there may be some who are intelligent, imaginative, generous and some in the same group who may be dull, lazy and disobedient. - Subin
The zodiac system has catagorised Bill Gates and the poor Nepali farmer in the same group. In which Zodiac group was Albert Einstein catagorised? Why are the people which belong to his zodiac group not all as intelligent as he? So I really find zodiac rubbish. - Laxmi
People born at different times of the year will face different types of environmental conditions. These conditions greatly contribute to the intellectual and moral attributes of the person. Therefore the probability of people who have the same zodiac sign resembling each other increases. - Prakash
Scientists have pointed out that the position of the earth has changed since ancient times and so the signs of the zodiac used by astrologers no longer match with the constellations for which they were named. - Dhruba
Astrology is a kind of science, so it works with the help of approximation and probability. It needn’t be perfect. - Subash
Astrology restricts our whole world to within the liimits of our horoscopes and it’s rather boring from my point of view. - Suraj P
In our culture we follow the lunar calendar and so our horoscope depends on lunar movement. But Western people follow the solar calendar. Now which one to follow? According to the solar calendar I’m Taurian, but according to our calendar I’m Sagittarian. - Manoj
I’m amazed to see people feeling embarrassed whenever they are caught going through their star signs. Why should they feel awkward when they are just trying to be either encouraged or warned? - Anita
Astrology has evolved. It has changed from science to art - the art of convincingly telling lies. - Prakash
One should neither neglect it nor believe it out and out. As a horoscope shows only the probability, there’s enough chance for the forecast not to come true. When you read it, you may not find it true for you, but there may be others for whom it might have come true. Horoscopes are very generalised so you shouldn’t test its effectiveness on you only. - Amrit
Only one coincidence among a hundred possibilities in enough to spawn faith in future predictions among the blinded believers. Fortune-telling is a sort of way people are hypnotised. - Sovit
Both educated people and uneducated people are influenced by astrology. - Sita
Although I used to think astrology a silly subject, I’m finding it a fascinating subject nowadays. - Kamal
“You need to work hard and you will be successful.” Such usual information is given and of course it turns out to be true. - Lalita
What I’ve known from some of the astrologers I’ve visited is that they make a huge amount of money from this profession. - Nitin
I believe in the horoscope when there are positive things about my zodiac sign, but when there is something negative about my zodiac sign then I ignore it and consider it a silly idea. - Jhapindra
I do believe when something good is written and just ignore it when something bad is written. - Pradip
I too believe in astrologers’ ideas when I find a good thing about myself. - Dhruba
People who work throughout their lives in astrology never say any foolish thing. These pundits or learned people can tell exactly at what time a solar eclipse starts and ends. They can predict by calculations that after 40/50 years the earth will be hit by a meteorite or when there will be a great earthquake and it generally happens. They can make horoscopes that are generally successful in guiding people.
However, people who know a little Sanskrit may say that they are the pundits and that they know about astrology and that they can forecast things in the future. There is a saying in English “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.” These people are really dangerous. They pretend that they can make horoscopes and read them properly. - Laxmi
To me astrology is still as vague as God is. It doesn’t matter how much we consider ourselves atheists, when troubles come we first remember God. So it is with astrology. - Neelu
I don’t believe all this rubbish. If something is going to happen then it is not known to anyone not even to astrologers. - Shankar
Some people say that astrology is rubbish. Do you believe them? I don’t because I’ve seen such people rushing to read their horoscope in newspapers and magazines. - Sapana
We should always remember that our success depends on our work not on our luck or zodiac sign, so we should go on performing our work and let the astrologers foretell the future. - Subash
One shouldn’t be over-excited and stop working hard, believing in the astrologers’ words that one will be a successful person in the future. One also shouldn’t be disappointed if astrologers say discouraging things about one’s future. Our future depend on our knowledge, character and service, not on astrology. - Subin
I take astrology as a time-wasting, mind-refreshing business. - Neelu
There should be something eternal, not a human who once does and finishes, allocating the fate of all individuals. - Prem Nath
