Our Journey

We were scheduled to visit five places: Nainital, Dehli, Jaipur, Agra and Lucknow. - Ajit
I found the bus ride to be the most enjoyable part of the journey. In fact I had never liked bus rides before. Even a few hours’ journey felt like an eternity to me. But this ride was different. It was like a golden opportunity to be with my friends free from the rules and regulations of the school. - Sajal

Boys like Bhim kept us entertained throughout the tour.

When Rajeev Sir and Mukunda Sir were taken away by the police on the way to Jaipur, we were left stranded on the highway.

From this pix it might seem that Bishow was the one who kept company with Elwyn Miss, but it was Ajit who kept her smiling throughout the tour with his jokes.Unfortunately, Ajit isn't in the pix. This fella has a habit of missing out on big occasions.

Food

I hated India’s food and water. I was always thinking of Nepali food and water during my whole tour. - Subin
We shall never forget the rotis and fried daal of India. - Chandra
It was good for those who like roti, but for others it was difficult to survive. - Druba
I lost my appetite when I saw rotis and and uncooked rice. On some nights biscuits were my food. - Suraj P
Indians have rightly named rice as chawal, by which we mean uncooked rice. - Bishwo
In India, if we order rice, then we’ve to order daal and vegetables separately and we have to pay the price of each item. - Druba
We were served rice, a plateful of which contained not more than a handful, and each time we wanted more we had to pay extra. - Bhim
I could eat as much as six rotis and two plates of daal. - Amrit
The worst we ever had was the water at Agra, which tasted like Jeewan Jal. - Pradip
We experienced the Indian dish “Masala dosa” burger in Gorakhpur. - Chandra
I did enjoy chicken biriyani which the Principal, PV Chandy gave us in Delhi. - Manoj

Principal Sir gave us a feast of Mutton Biryani at Delhi. Sita, Sapana and Lalita are enjoying the feast.

Sita and Sapana are relieved after having a meal at a Dhaba on the way to Luckhnow. When we reached here, this was the only Dhaba around and food was not ready. So we had to wait. We shall never forget this Dhaba for we got very little to eat and had to pay twice.

Shopping

Indian goods were very cheap in India, but the foreign goods were more expensive in India than in Nepal. - Chandra
Whenever Indians know that we are Nepalese, they increase the price. - Bidur
I bought two kurta salwar pieces and while packing the shopkeeper didn’t pack the salwar. I noticed only when my sisters complained about the salwar. - Manoj
As we walked along the road of the market, people caught us and took us to the shopping centre. If we weren’t interested in buying, then we would ask for an item which was not found there. - Druba
Suraj got a bitter scolding while buying a belt in Delhi. - Chandra
We were taught to bargain in a fixed price shop. - Pradip
One thing I learned from the Indians is the feeling of patriotism. The markets contained only Indian goods. Also, they used vehicles manufactured in their country only. - Nitin

Reflections

These ten days were going to be in the quest of fascination and a close encounter with South Asian civilisation. - Sovit
On the whole our tour was interesting, enjoyable, marvellous, fruitful and a grand success. - Druba
I drew the conclusion that the Indians are really hard-working. The Taj Mahal, Lotus Temple and Red Fort are the products of their hard work. - Sapana
India is more rich than Nepal in art and architecture. - Shankar
Though we faced many problems in India regarding roads, meals and water, still it was interesting. - Pradip
Unlike many others, I found the Indians very helpful, caring and friendly. - Bhim
I was impressed by the way parks and monuments were maintained, but the streets and industrial areas need good maintenance. - Amrit
Generally people ride on Bajaj scooters, which seems very unusual to Nepalese. - Shankar

We got a golden opportunity to study the Indian cultural heritage, their standard of living and many things about our neighbouring country. - Sita

Nepal needs no such industries, but the fresh air like in Pokhara. Nepal needs no such heavy traffic, but the clean environment like my village. - Amrit
