Picnics and tours are the mnemonics our memory rely on to recall memories of our school days. Picnics and tours provide the ideal setting for knowing your friends better and making new friends. Regretfully, I has skipped picnics and tour in my secondary schooling. In class 8, I skipped the tour to Baglung. My friends literally pleaded for my company, but I declined. I am an introvert and back then I was even more so. I did not feel secure with prospects of making new friends. I always feared that something might go wrong. I was just happy with the small circle of friends I had. That's why I barely knew the names of the students of my class, even though I had been with them since nursery.

I did not go in the Chitwan tour at JCA in class 9. How could I have gone. I hadn't gone with my friends from my toddler days. I couldn't even imagine going out with new friends.

In GBS, I became a boarder and was naturally more close to my friends. Here I realised that you cannot expect to be seen in the right light from all quarters. So, just behave well with the people that matter to you and enjoy with them. And I did not miss the picnics and the tours from then on because of which the memories of GBS still linger in me.

Speaking of memory, an idea expressed by my Physics teacher at JCA, Prabhakar Rai comes to my mind. He had said that the only thing you will remember about school after graduation will be the picnics and tours. I did not realise the gravity of his thought then. But now I know that he was right all the way.
