School Grounds

Department of Education - Ed
Sir
I am requested by my Board to write you, as to our School House Area.
Our Trustees are all women. - A few weeks ago the Husband of one Trustee and the son of another, started to arrange and fix up the Boundary Fence, which had never been done. They had with them the enclosed description, sent to me some years ago, by you.
But no ordinary man can make anything out of it. It would puzzle an angel. So, unforunately, these gentlemen had to give up the job. So, although the land cost us $51.00 we don't even know where it is.(end of p.135 )
To Education Deputy Minister
You may know that I, as Secretary, had nothing whatever to do with this business. The late Chairman arranged everything and put it all through himself. In fact, I very seldom go up there at all. Only to the Annual Meetings. Board Meetings are held in my House.
I may be wrong, Sir, but I believe that a piece of land 6 chains by 5 chains is 3 acres. This could have been so easily done, as there is any quantity of waste land in Sylvan S. District. My Board is nervous as to Title. Can this be done now, and fenced? Then alter Title Deed, and throw the enclosed description of area (which please return) in the fire?
This is a very serious matter to us.
Yours respectfully

Sir (0-29525-25)
I thank you for yours of the 20th. I saw our Lady Chairman last night. The Lac Ste. Anne trail is still in operation and probably always will be. Our School Building is close to it
We seem to be in a complete muddle as to the School Ground, which cost us $51.00
I am informed that the rough fence put around the Building does not take in more than 1 1/2 acres.
If the Inspector, or some other Government Official, could meet our 3 Lady Trustees, with their Husbands, on the Grounds during July, and stake out a square, or rectangle, to measure 3 acres, my Board considers this would be the only satisfactory arrangement.

Sir (0-32742-25)
Re your letter of July 26th
This puzzles me, for my letter of June 18th (previous) is a complete answer to this.
My Board has not met since June 13th
We have the Title Deed
The description of site cannot be understood by any ordinary man, as I told you on June 18th -
Mr Allen (late Chairman) left this District last Fall
He appears to be out of our World as his tax notices have been returned.
We again ask for an intelligent and understandable boundary, and I repeat all I said to you June 18th & 26th.
Please reurn the slip pinned to letter June 18th.
Yours respectfully
