In Him is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all...
but darkness and light are alike to Him, and he enlightens
all the darkness through which I must walk, and which
lives
inside of me
He is Spirit, and who would worship him must worship in
Spirit and in Truth
but he enlivens all flesh, and lives in and with all flesh,
even though the nature of flesh is to be both 'true'
and
'false'
In 'Him' there is neither male nor female...
but all of the full potentiality of male and female are
found
in 'him', originate in 'him', and express 'his' nature
fully only
when both are fully appreciated, as the totality of male-ness
and female-ness need to be taken together to glimpse
'his'

With Him there is no shadow of turning
He is dependable, but he is not 'predictable' , he constantly
reveals surprises, creates newness, inspires new potential,
and is present in new moments and places of encounter
He is not tempted, and he does not tempt anyone
but he understands our failings, our struggle to
be true to
what we believe him to want in us, for us, from us, and
our desperation to be true to ourselves
His thoughts are high above our thoughts, His ways are
high above our ways,
but he is really and fully present in the everyday, the
ordinary,
in our joys, disappointments, suffering, fundamentally
beyond
description, but intimately acquainted with us and present
with us
and concerned for us
Who has known the mind of the Lord, and who has become
His
counselor?
but he is always working to make himself known to us and
through us,
and he depends on us to bear in our small way an incarnation
of his
presence in the small and needy world in which he has
placed us
