Gackt

Most people began to know about Gackt from Malice Mizer, a visual group known for a "classical goth" type music. He joined MM in October of 1995 after their original vocalist, Tetsu, left. He worked in MM, composing, singing, playing piano, etc. for four years until in January of 1999, he left to begin a very fruitful solo career.

The first instrument he learned how to play was piano, at the age of three. His parents were very strict and made him learn how to play it. Because of that, he never enjoyed playing. They would make him sit in front of the piano for 2 hours a day, even if he wasn't playing. His parents were strict with other things too, including TV, on which they censored what shows their son could watch. He was only allowed to watch educational programs or national programs. He hated his parents' strictness and never was close with his parents.

During Gackt's childhood at one point, he was put into a mental institution. He said that he was driven crazy. When he was 6 or 7 years old, in Okinawa, he was drawn into the sea and nearly drowned but he was saved. After that, however, he said that he could see ghosts and became psychic. His parents just told him that he was seeing illusions, though, and it basically drove him insane. He said that the ghosts would take over his body and move him places and his parents didn't believe him, and so he lost all trust in his parents. Now, however, he says that though he still sees the spirits sometimes, it has gone down a lot.

Gackt is very competitive. He wanted to learn brass instruments in school and he mastered every brass instrument, because of that desire to be better than everyone else. However, from practicing too much, he damaged his teeth and had to stop. From there, he learned the drums and one of his friends asked him to join their rock band, but their vocalist left and Gackt took over on vocals instead.

About Gackt's sexual orientation, he basically said in an interview that he was bisexual. He talked about both his girlfriends and his boyfriends and said when he was done, "If anyone wants to think that I'm bisexual after reading this, go ahead."

-He mastered the trumpet, tuba, horn, trombone, euphonium, piano, drums, guitar, percussion and bass. Wow.
-He has a maine coon cat named May and a miniature dachshund name named Belle Constantine Chappy, or Bell, for short.
-Gackt likes the manga Banana Fish ^^
-Gackt doesn't like cockroaches but he says it would be interesting to be one because maybe then he wouldn't dislike them as much.
