The Magic Bug

Part 2

(Author's note: I've learned two things while writing this fic: Don't let yourself get too lazy and don't postpone what you can do today. Really. I really suffered a humongous author's block just because I stopped writing the second installment. It's now hard for me to remember what I originally planned which is why it's hard to finish this fic. But finish it I must. Ooops, now I'm sounding like Yoda...)

Seravi woke up to the sound of a bird chirping outside his cottage. Groggily, he tried to rise up from the bed. Beads of sweat popped out of his face, he only managed to pull himself into a sitting position.

Ooohhh, my head, he moaned, rubbing his fingers on his temple. It feels like I have been hit by a bus, or more exactly a plane!

What on earth had happened? he thought. Last thing I remember, I was cleaning up the house, and then blackness...hmmm... I remember hearing
Dorothy's voice...

He remembered Dorothy crying and helping him walk towards the bed. So it was her, yeah I remember! Now where is she, I wonder...

On cue, he heard that familiar accented voice which is undeniably Dorothy's. "Seravi, darling, are you awake? I brought you some chicken
soup..."

Seeing that Seravi is awake, she smiled, relief showing clearly on her face. "Oh good, you woke up. For a moment there, I thought it was more
serious than just a flu..."

"So this is just a flu, huh? No problem then, I'll get up and ---" Dorothy seeing that Seravi is getting up, panicked and started shouting,
"YOU FOOL, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING, HUH?!?!"

The pounding in his head instantly became more painful. "Will you shut up and give my aching head a break?!? I'll cover your big mouth with
this!" He gestured but instead of a large plaster on Dorothy's mouth, a faint smoke appeared and quickly faded away.

Dorothy smacked the hell out of Seravi, largely forgetting he is still ill. "YOU'RE SO UNGRATEFUL!!! I took care of you and you treat me like
this!! NO MORE!!! Go and feed yourself!!", She yelled, almost smashing the broth on the side table with the soup splashing all over.

Oh Lord, can I even survive a day with her?!?

The nerve of that fool!! Dorothy fumed as she cook lunch. I took care of him and all he gives me is an endless headache. Grrrr!!!!!

Grinding her teeth, she slams the cabbage into the chopping board, cutting and slicing the poor vegetable into smithereens.

But suddenly, a suspicious smile appeared in her lips. Oh yeah, I nearly forgot... Seravi can't do any magic while he's sick....Hehehehe....

After the pounding in his head subsided into a mere throbbing, Seravi reached out to get Elizabeth sitting on the side table.

"Oh dear Elizabeth. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine Seravi. Just a little wet. Some of that soup splashed on me."

"That Dorothy! Can't she do anything right?"

"But Seravi, aren't you a little hard on her? After all, she is taking care of you while you are sick."

"Yes, you're right... I think I'll be a good patient from now on. Hmmm, that takes care of one problem (I hope). Now on to another one, this sickness
of mine. Dorothy said that it's just a simple flu, but why on earth can't I use my magic?"

"Elementary, my dear Seravi. It isn't a simple flu." Dorothy sneered, entering the room carrying a tray laden with food. "I forgot to tell you but the doctor
told me that you got what he called the "magic bug". It seems that it has been going around and any magician who catches it can't do any magic until he gets well. So it seems, my darling Seravi, that you are totally at my mercy. Bwahahahahaha!!!"

Seravi already had a sarcastic retort at the end of his tongue when Elizabeth, reading his mind (easy for her to do since it they both have the same mind!),
scolded, "Seravi, remember you promised to be a good patient."

Seravi sighed. "Easy for you to say. You do not have to deal with a loud-mouthed witch with a thick make-up."

And of course, Dorothy's temper flared up, which is quite easy to see, since actual flames started to eminate from her. "Seeerrraaavvviiii!!!"

Being used to Dorothy's immense temper, Seravi calmly continued, "But I shouldn't complain, I know Elizabeth, since Dorothy has been so kind to stay
here and take care of me..."

Hearing that Dorothy stopped and blushed, the chair she was about to hurl to the green-haired magician froze. Seravi, she thought. You could be so sweet
sometimes...

"Of course, that doesn't excuse her being so bad-mannered."

Seravi didn't had a chance to finish. That day, Seravi's cottage will have one less chair from them on.
