Madison War Protest

UWEC Greens Anti-War Protest in Madison Oct 26th
Help Stop the War Against Iraq before it starts!

UWEC students are organizing a massive state-wide Anti-War protest down in Madison on Saturday, October 26th 2002 in coalition with Stop the War and other student groups at UW-Madison. The rally will begin at noon on the UW-Madison campus, where there will be speakers for approximately an hour, and then we will march up State St. to the State Capitol Building and have a few more speakers before the conclusion of the rally. There will be representatives from student and community groups from all over the state. Everyone is welcome. The Madison rally is part of a larger national movement organized by A.N.S.W.E.R. and the Not in Our Name  groups on the 26th, in which two major national protests will be occurring in Washington D.C. and San Francisco at the same time. Those rallies will likely attract tens of thousands of people each. So come join us as we come together across the nation to show our opposition to a war against Iraq!

The Eau Claire group will be leaving around 8:30 am from the Fine Arts Building on the UWEC campus, and be getting back around 5:30 pm Saturday evening. Transportation will be provided by bus, and a small donation of under $10 is recommended to help us pay for transportation costs. Please bring a sack lunch for yourself as well. If you’d like, feel free to bring signs, noisemakers, etc. And if you support the cause, but just can’t make it down to Madison with us, be sure to find a way to show your solidarity with the protests going on throughout the country and the world on the 26th. To sign up for this event or to get more information, please contact Nathan Kalmoe (kalmoenp@uwec.edu or 855-3067). Thank you!!!
