October 4, 2000 September has come and gone, and in a wink of an eye came October. We have lots planned for this month, field trip, fall celebration, and fall parade. The children have been working on their daycare pledge and now they all know it. We recite it every morning before we start our day. That’s our way of reminding ourselves and others that we will be on our best behavior today, and help those that need us. Ask your child to recite their pledge for you, they look so cute. I will post a copy of the pledge in the end of this news letter so that you can learn it and say it with your child.

REMINDERS Fridays are show and tell, that’s the time each child get to share their special toy, book, movie etc.,please do not let your child bring toys in during the week as this only causes the children to fight over this one toy. Keep in mind of your contracted hours, and if your are going to be running late for drop off or pick up please call me to make me aware of this, I will charge you a late fee if you are not here by your contracted hours to pick up your child. You may have noticed by now that we have new carpet and we do use this carpet to sit on for story time, to lay on for morning stretch, etc., to help keep the carpet in use for a couple of months please have your child to take their shoe off once in the house, the children are really already aware of this but a reminder every now and then won’t hurt.

FIELD TRIP We will be taking a field trip to Mike’s Farm on Monday October 23. The cost of the trip will be $5 for children over 2 yr.. of age and $3 for children under 2 years . I would like to have all money in by Friday Oct. 20. The children will sit in the barn on hay stacks and listen to stories, sing songs, take a hay ride to the pumpkin patch, pick them out a pumpkin, and taste some of Mike’s homemade apple cider. Yummy ! We will be having lunch at the new pizza parlor. If your child will not be going on this trip please be sure to have a back up provider for that day.

MS. GAIL’S PERSONAL CORNER Sometimes I am referred to as a baby-sitter, and I really don’t like that title because I do to much with the children to be called a baby-sitter, so if someone ask you , “who baby-sits your child”, please reply by saying, “ my child care provider is Ms.Gail”. I am trying to look more professional so that when we are out people won’t look at me as a sitter. You will now see me in blue or beige pants, and button down shirts with my name and the daycare name on them, it also makes finding my clothes in the mornings much easier. Little children come to me for hugs and books and such.I care for all their little needs. I also fix their lunch. I pick up toys, mop their spills and often dry their tears.I tie their shoes, button coats and push them on the swings. I really love these children you see, but there is just one little thing. Please don’t call me a sitter, because I never get to sit ! author unknown

We were out on a walk about 3 weeks ago, when DeVaughn Harris saw a caterpillar and ask me if he could catch it, I told him yes you can put it in your tissue, and that’s what he did. He was so excited. We had just finished a unit on caterpillars, cocoons and butterflies. So we decided to keep it and name it Fuzzy. Well Fuzzy soon was in his cacoon, and about 3 weeks later he was a butterfly, or should I say a moth , anyway we all were very excited to see Fuzzy go from crawling to flying. We invited Ms Davette and her class to come over and see it though all it’s stages and they were just amazed. We all went outside about 2 days ago and let DeVaughn set Fuzzy free, and away he flew right across DeVaughn’s face that he did not get a close look at it, all the children was bouncing with joy to see Fuzzy fly. Thank you DeVaughn Harris
