The Americans With Disabilities Act (1990) addresses the difficulties that all Americans face in gaining access to public buildings and employment. MCS is a medical disorder characterized by effects in multiple body systems that has similarities to chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia (a definition established jointly among the ALA, AMA, and the American Academy of Environmental Medicine in 1998). ADA recognizes Multiple Chemical Sensitivity as a covered disability. The final report from the National Institute of Building Resources (NIBS, 2005) also addresses access and accommodation for Electromagnetic Sensitivity (MCS/ES).
